Samuk brings international talent to its alien world
The shoot began on August 23, according to industry sources. Earlier reports had indicated that around 90% of the film would be shot across the UK, with the remaining portions planned in Mumbai. The production is expected to follow one continuous schedule rather than being split into several shooting legs.
The film has reportedly been in development for more than two years and combines military realism, survival horror and alien mythology. Adding to its international scale is Academy Award-nominated creature effects designer Alec Gillis, who has worked on films including Alien and Predator. Gillis has designed the central alien creature for Samuk.
British action director Luke Tumber has also joined the project. The makers are reportedly relying heavily on practical filmmaking, with the creature and action sequences being designed to work within live-action environments wherever possible.
Akshay Kumar and Vipul Shah reunite for seventh film
Samuk marks Akshay Kumar and Vipul Amrutlal Shah’s seventh collaboration. The producer had earlier spoken to Bollywood Hungama about the film’s international shoot and plans for its theatrical release. The production plan was described by Shah as follows: “We are going to shoot extensively abroad. We plan to release it in 2027.”
Shah has also previously revealed that Akshay has been closely involved in discussions around different aspects of the project. With filming now underway in London, Samuk is shaping up as one of the actor’s more ambitious upcoming theatrical films, combining a homegrown action star with an international creature-effects team and an alien-driven survival story.
