Why was Rhea Chakraborty's passport seized?

After Sushant Singh Rajput's death, his father filed a complaint, based on which the Bihar Police registered an abetment of suicide case against Rhea. Later, the CBI took over the case. The actress was arrested by the NCB on September 8, 2020, along with her brother Showik Chakraborty and others, for allegedly procuring drugs for Sushant's consumption.

Rhea was granted bail by the Bombay High Court in October 2020, on the condition that her passport would remain in NCB's custody. Every time she had to travel abroad, she had to seek permission from the trial court.

Rhea has received a clean chit in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case. At the NDTV Yuva 2025 Conclave, she recalled the moment, saying, "Everyone in my house cried that day. I hugged my brother and broke down. When I looked at my parents, I realised we had all changed forever. We were no longer the same carefree family. That moment altered us permanently."

"The day it happened, my mum said the news channels were reporting that the CBI had given me a clean chit. I didn't believe it. I thought, 'It can't be true, the media doesn't report facts anyway.' I waited until my lawyer confirmed it to me," she added.
