Punjabi Actor And Bodybuilder Varinder Singh Ghuman Passes Away Due To Heart Attack

Punjabi actor and professional bodybuilder Varinder Singh Ghuman is no more. He passed away following a heart attack on Thursday, October 9, his family informed, reported PTI.

Varinder Singh Ghuman death reason

Varinder's nephew Amanjot Singh Ghuman told reporters in Jalandhar that the actor suffered a heart attack in the hospital in the evening. His manager, Yadvinder Singh, informed that the actor was suffering from shoulder pain and had gone to a private hospital in Amritsar for treatment.

Who was Varinder Singh Ghuman?

Ghuman was born in Gurdaspur, Punjab, in 1983. Known as the world's first vegetarian bodybuilder, Ghuman bagged the title of Mr India in 2009. He became a runner-up at the Mr Asia pageant. and was a popular name in the world of professional bodybuilding. He often shared pics and videos of his fitness routine on Instagram.

He also wanted to contest the Punjab assembly elections in 2027.

His prayer meet is scheduled for 3 pm today as per a post on his Instagram page.

Varinder Singh Ghuman's acting career

Ghuman worked in the 2012 Punjabi film Kabaddi and appeared in several Hindi films, including Once Again Roar: Tigers of Sundarbans (2014), Marjaavan (2019) and Salman Khan starrer 2023 film Tiger 3.

Tributes are pouring in from the Punjab on social media. Union minister Ravneet Singh Bittu wrote on X, "Passing away of the pride of Punjab, 'the He-Man of India', Varinder Ghuman ji, is an irreparable loss for the country. He set new standards in the world of fitness with his hard work and vegetarian lifestyle. His life will always be a source of inspiration for the youth."

Congress MP and former deputy chief minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa wrote, "It is heartbreaking to hear the news of the sudden demise of Punjab's famous bodybuilder and actor Varinder Singh Ghuman. He brought glory to Punjab with his hard work, discipline, and talent. May Waheguru grant eternal peace to the departed soul and give strength to the family to bear this loss."
