The development comes amid a sharp escalation of tensions between India and Pakistan following India's retaliatory military strike, Operation Sindoor, in response to the April 22 Pahalgam attack.
Hours after the ceasefire, several drones have been located and while sounds of explosions were heard in J&K and other places on Saturday.
After India and Pakistan agreed on Saturday to halt firing and military action, Britain and Saudi Arabia welcomed the development, while the European Union called it an "important step towards de-escalating tensions" and said all efforts should be made to ensure it is respected.
Germany said the ceasefire agreed between the two countries was "a first, important step to break out of the cycle of tensions."
As per the PTI , a senior Jammu and Kashmir government official and two security officers were among seven killed while more than 25 people were injured amid intense mortar shelling and drone strikes by Pakistan in the Jammu region on Saturday.
The casualties were reported hours before India and Pakistan agreed to end hostilities, which soared after the Indian Armed Forces hit terror launchpads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) earlier this week in response to the Pahalgam attack.
Amid the heightening tensions between India and Pakistan, a Border Security Force personnel (BSF) lost his life in the line of duty on Saturday morning during cross-border firing in the RS Pura area of Jammu district.

According to Pakistani newspaper Dawn, Pakistan PM Shehbaz has said that India used the Pahalgam incident as an "excuse" to impose an "unjustified war" on Pakistan.
Citing Shehbaz, Dawn reported that Pakistan offered an independent and neutral investigation and exhibited restraint to India’s baseless accusations.
As per Dawn, he said, "But in its hubris, India tried to challenge our territorial integrity and sovereignty in vain. Innocent lives, mosques and civilian populations were targeted through drones and missiles, and our patience was tested."
According to Pakistani newspaper Dawn, Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif has congratulated the nation after the recent ceasefire.
Citing Shehbaz Sharif, Dawn reported that you have made it clear to the world that Pakistan is a self-respecting nation. Our respect and valour are more dear to us than our lives. If anyone challenges them, we become an iron-fortified wall to protect our land.
As per news agency PTI, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday reviewed the ongoing relief measures and evacuation of civilians being undertaken across border districts in the wake of recent cross-border shelling.
As per news agencies PTI And ANI, search operations by security forces are underway in Nagrota, J&K after firing incident was reported at an Army unit in Nagrota.
It has been reported that suspicious movement was seen, but there has been no further contact after initial engagement. Further investigations are on in the incident. More details awaited.
Commenting on the latest drone attacks by Pakistan after ceasefire agreement, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri during a special press briefing said, "An understanding was reached this evening between the DGMOs of India and Pakistan to stop the military action that was going on for the last few days. For the last few hours, this understanding is being violated by Pakistan.
"The Indian Army is retaliating and dealing with this border intrusion. This intrusion is extremely condemnable and Pakistan is responsible for it. We believe that Pakistan should understand this situation properly and take appropriate action immediately to stop this intrusion", he said.
"The Armed Forces are maintaining a strong vigil on the situation and have been given instructions to deal strongly with any instances of repetition of the violations of the borders along the international border as well as the line of control", Misri further added.
Several drones spotted in Gujarat's border district of Kutch, fresh blackout imposed in area, state officials told PTI.
Blackout measures have been reimposed as a precautionary measure in Jodhpur and Jaisalmer in Rajasthan.
Earlier on Saturday, the blackout measures were withdrawn after India and Pakistan agreed on an immediate ceasefire.

As per the reports a planned emergency blackout drill was conducted at the Pune airport on Saturday evening amid heightened security concerns in the country.
The mock drill took place between 8.25 pm and 8.45 pm and was aimed at testing the airport's preparedness and response to potential power outages or other emergencies.

Calling out the circulating misinformation regarding Pakistan damaging India's S400, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi said, "Pakistan claimed that it damaged our S400 and Brahmos missile base with its JF 17, which is completely wrong. Secondly, it also ran a misinformation campaign that our airfields in Sirsa, Jammu, Pathankot, Bhatinda, Nalia and Bhuj were damaged, and its misinformation is also completely wrong. Commenting on India-Pakistan ceasefire, Commodore Ravi Nair at the Ministry of Defence presser said, "As the foreign secretary had said, there is an understanding that has been reached to stop all military activities on sea, air and land. The Indian Army, Air Force and Navy have been instructed to adhere to this understanding."

The DGMO of Pakistan called the DGMO of India at 3.35 pm earlier this afternoon, Misri said.
"It was agreed between them that both sides would stop all firing and military action on land, and in the air and sea, with effect from 1700 hours IST Saturday," he said.

The announcement of the movie faced backlash, with many social media users criticising its timing.
PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday said India should embrace its leadership role in the subcontinent and take the first step to de-escalate tensions with Pakistan, as it is a moment for the country to stand tall and demonstrate that its true strength lies in its soft power and commitment to peace.
Mufti's remarks came after US Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke to Pakistani Army chief Asif Munir, and “urged both parties to find ways to de-escalate”.
"Even though US Vice-President J D Vance initially said that America wouldn't intervene beyond a certain point in the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, in light of the worrying intensity of the situation, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has now reached out to the Pakistani Army chief, urging de-escalation," Mufti said in a post on X.
Rather than relying on "inconsistent" international support, India should take the first step to de-escalate, she said.
A high alert was issued in the border districts of Rajasthan on Saturday amid threats of potential strikes by Pakistan, officials said.
The district administrations and police officials have asked residents to remain indoors and avoid unnecessary movement.
In Barmer, warning sirens were sounded to alert people about the seriousness of the situation. Police teams have also intensified patrolling and announcements were made via police vehicles and public address systems to inform the public about the alert.
Markets in Barmer and Jaisalmer have also been closed as a precautionary measure.
A similar situation was observed in the Bikaner and Sri Ganganagar districts, where a high alert was also declared.
In a major escalation, Pakistan targeted over 26 locations across the western border using drones drones, artillery and missiles, causing limited damage to civilian infrastructure and Indian Air Force Bases.

A missile-like object landed deep inside the Dal Lake -- a major tourist attraction in Srinagar -- after loud explosions rocked the city on Saturday morning, officials said.
Smoke bellowed from the surface of the lake when the object landed, the officials said.
The debris of the object, which has been fished out by the security forces, is being analysed, they added.
Another suspected object was recovered from Lasjan on the outskirts of the city on Saturday morning, which is being examined, the officials said.

Pakistan’s claim that its missiles fired from JF-17 fighter jets destroyed India’s S-400 air defence system in Adampur is “false”, an Indian military official said today. A Pakistan’s state-run TV channel had earlier reported that Pakistan Air Force’s hypersonic missiles destroyed the S-400 system in Adampur.
"Pakistan military appears to be moving its troops closer to border areas in a move to escalate the situation", says Wing Commander Vyomika Singh at the press briefing.
Wing Commander Vyomika Singh stated that Indian Army has only made retaliatory attacks against Pakistan after there were several attempts to air intrusions including artillery mortars across Jammu and Kashmir districts.
After a night of bristling tension, people woke up to explosion-like sounds in Punjab's Pathankot and Jalandhar districts, while air sirens rang out in Hoshiarpur, Amritsar and Ferozepur districts, as the military conflict between India and Pakistan took a sharp upturn, officials said.

An unidentified projectile landed in a residential area at Kanganiwal village in Punjab's Jalandhar district early Saturday, officials said.
The administration in Gujarat's Kutch issued an advisory on Saturday asking citizens to stay indoors and not step out unnecessarily in view of the military standoff between India and Pakistan.
The advisory has come after the Indian Armed Forces thwarted drone attacks from Pakistan at Kutch last night, and blackouts were enforced in Kutch and two other districts of Gujarat.
"All citizens should stay safe indoors. Do not step out of the house unnecessarily, and do not pay attention to any rumours. Do not panic," the Kutch collector stated in a post on the administration's official handle on 'X' in the morning.
District headquarters Bhuj was one of the 26 places along the international borders and the Line of Control with Pakistan where drones were sighted, the military said on Friday.
A blackout was enforced in Kutch and parts of Banaskantha and Patan districts of Gujarat close to the Indo-Pak border on Friday night.
The Border Security Force on Saturday said it has "completely destroyed" a terrorist launchpad opposite Akhnoor in Jammu in response to unprovoked firing from the other side along the International Border.
The base was located at Looni in Pakistan's Sialkot district, a BSF spokesperson said.
This came after Pakistan initiated "unprovoked" firing on BSF posts in Jammu sector from 9 pm on Friday.
The BSF responded in a commensurate manner, causing widespread damage to the posts and assets of the Pakistan Rangers along the international boundary, the spokesperson said.
The terrorist launchpad at Looni in Sialkot district, opposite Akhnoor area, was completely destroyed by the BSF.
Our resolve to protect India's sovereignty is unshaken, the spokesperson said.

Operations at the Delhi airport are presently normal though some flights might be impacted due to the evolving airspace conditions amid the military conflict between India and Pakistan, officials said.
Enhanced security measures have been put in place at airports across the country as the military conflict between the two nations intensified.
Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), which operates the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in the national capital, said in a post on X that operations are presently normal at the airport.
"However, due to evolving airspace conditions and enhanced security measures, as per the orders of the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, some flight schedules may be impacted and security checkpoint processing times may take longer," it said.
Passengers have also been advised to arrive early to accommodate potential delays at security checks.
The DIAL also requested passengers to cooperate with the airline and security staff for smooth facilitation.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio has spoken with Pakistani Army chief Asim Munir and offered US assistance in starting "constructive talks" with India to avoid future conflicts.
Rubio “continued to urge both parties to find ways to de-escalate," a statement issued by Spokesperson Tammy Bruce said.

China's Xinhua news agency also said Pakistan JF-17 Thunder jet destroyed India's S-400 air defense system in India's Punjab, according to Chinese news outlet Global Times.
These reports are false, the spokesperson of the Indian Air Force said.

An unidentified projectile landed in a residential area at Kanganiwal village in Punjab's Jalandhar district early Saturday amid the military conflict between India and Pakistan, officials said.
Local residents said a migrant labourer was injured in the incident, while a few houses in the area also sustained damage. Parts of the unidentified object were lying in the area, they said.
"I was standing near a window when some object hit a water tank (of a house) around 1.30 am, shattering glasses of 4-5 houses before landing," a woman from the area said.
A migrant labourer who suffered injuries on his arm was taken to the hospital, she said.
Satinder Kumar, a local, said, "The water tank of our house was damaged, while many window panes were shattered. There was smoke all around." Another local resident, Muskan, too said a big explosion took place at night that forced several people to come out of their homes.
"One car was damaged...We were all scared," she said.

Telangana Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy, a former Indian Air Force pilot, has expressed his willingness to return to combat duty if the country called on him again.
In an informal interaction with reporters at Gandhi Bhavan here, the irrigation and civil supplies minister reflected on his military background and commented on the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan.
Reddy recalled joining the armed forces at 16 and flying MiG-21s by 1982. Later, he got behind the controls of the MiG-23. "I was just 20, already a fighter pilot," a release quoted him as saying.
Referring to the Pahalgam terror attack, Uttam Kumar Reddy said on Friday it was backed by Pakistan and slammed the killings, especially those carried out in the name of religion.
“India had every reason to hit back,” he said, backing the country's military response.
PTI in a report stated that Pakistan early Saturday claimed that its three air bases were targeted by Indian missiles and drones.
Pakistan military spokesperson Lt Gen Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry told a hurriedly called press conference in Islamabad at around 4 am that Nur Khan (Chaklala, Rawalpindi), Murid (Chakwal) and Rafiqui (Shorkot in Jhang district) air bases of Pakistan Air Force were targeted.
"But all assets of the Air Force remain safe," he said, as per PTI.
India fired air-to-surface missiles with its jets, he claimed.
He added that several missiles were intercepted by Pakistan's air defence system. He said this is a "sinister act of India pushing the region into lethal war, and Pakistan will respond to this aggression. India should wait for our response".
Chaudhry did not take any questions and ended the presser abruptly.
Minutes later, citing security officials, state-run PTV said that Pakistan has launched a retaliatory operation "Bunyan al-Marsous", meaning "Iron Wall".
They claimed that the Pakistan military used medium-range Fateh-1 missiles in the attack.

The government on Saturday debunked claims that India had launched a drone attack on the Nankana Sahib gurdwara in Pakistan.
"A video shared on social media is claiming that India has carried out a drone attack on the Nankhana Sahib gurdwara. This claim is completely fake," the PIB Fact Check Unit said.
Such content was being circulated to create communal hatred in India, it said.
Nankhana Sahib is the birthplace of Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, and the gurdwara is a revered shrine and pilgrimage centre for Sikhs.
The government also dismissed claims that India's power grid has been rendered dysfunctional in a cyberattack by Pakistan, and that there has been a temporary closure of the Mumbai-Delhi airline route.
"These claims are fake," the government said.

People across Jammu on Saturday woke up to blast-like sounds as sirens rang out in the city amid a fresh wave of suspected drone attacks by Pakistan, officials said.
Artillery and mortar shelling were also reported from the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch and the Akhnoor sector of Jammu district, they said.
Deafening sounds of explosions started rattling Jammu and Udhampur towns around 5 am with officials confirming a fresh wave of drone attack from across the border, triggering panic among the people.
On Friday night, drones were sighted at 26 locations, ranging from Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla in the north to Gujarat’s Bhuj in the south, along both the International Border and the Line of Control (LoC) with Pakistan, according to defence officials.
"These included suspected armed drones posing potential threats to civilian and military targets,” the officials said.

The Indian Army in a post on X confirmed that they were able to thwart a drone attack which was spotted flying over Amritsar today around 5 am.
The post read, "Pakistan’s blatant escalation with drone strikes and other munitions continues along our western borders. In one such incident, today at approximately 5 AM, Multiple enemy armed drones were spotted flying over Khasa Cantt, Amritsar. The hostile drones were instantly engaged and destroyed by our air defence units. Pakistan’s blatant attempt to violate India’s sovereignty and endanger civilians is unacceptable. IndianArmy will thwart enemy designs."
The Maharashtra government has issued "security directives" to fishermen operating off the Palghar coast and asked them to be vigilant to keep the country's maritime border safe amid ongoing Indo-Pak conflict, an official said here.
The directives were issued after a meeting with senior Indian Navy officials regarding enhancing coastal surveillance, he told PTI on Friday.
The state government is also trying to ensure that most fishing boats are equipped with transponders so that their locations can be tracked.
Authorities have identified two locations near the Palghar coast — north of Mumbai — where fishermen routinely gather and asked them not to assemble there, the government official said.
"We have also urged fishermen to work as eyes and ears for naval security and alert authorities about any suspicious activity at sea," he said.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in a post on X platform wrote, "I’m not sure how the “International Community” thinks the current tension in the subcontinent will be de-escalated when the IMF essentially reimburses Pakistan for all the ordnance it is using to devastate Poonch, Rajouri, Uri, Tangdhar & so many other places."
In a post on X, Odisha Police informed that they are conducting patrolling night and day after the Indian government issued high alert.
"The Indian government is conducting Operation Sindoor and has issued a high alert. In this context, the state police is patrolling day and night to ensure the security of the coast of Odisha. The trawler and the suspect are being investigated. We are always ready to prevent any terrorist attack. We are always vigilant to provide safety to the public. Public safety is our priority."
Saudi Arabia early Saturday said it was making efforts to de-escalate tensions between India and Pakistan, end current military confrontations, and promote the resolution of all disputes through dialogue and diplomatic channels.
In a brief statement, the Foreign Ministry said that upon the directives of the Saudi leadership, Al-Jubeir visited India and Pakistan on May 8 and 9 as part of the Kingdom's "ongoing efforts to de-escalate tensions, end current military confrontations, and promote the resolution of all disputes through dialogue and diplomatic channels".
The Saudi statement came as tensions soared significantly, with Pakistan claiming that its three airbases were targeted by Indian missiles and drones early Saturday.

Amid the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, the government will hold a special briefing on Saturday at 10 am.
Earlier, there were reports that a media briefing was scheduled for Saturday at 5.45 am in the South Block of the Secretariat Building.
Notably, the South Block houses the Prime Minister's Office, Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of External Affairs.
Urging India and Pakistan to de-escalate and 'engage in direct dialogue towards peaceful outcome', the G7 countries said in a statement, "Further military escalation between India and Pakistan poses serious threat to regional stability".
"We are deeply concerned for safety of civilians on both sides."
They said, "We continue to monitor events closely and express our support for swift, lasting diplomatic resolution."
A senior government official was killed and his two staff members were critically injured in Pakistani shelling in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir early Saturday, officials said.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri, Raj Kumar Thapa and his two staff members were seriously injured when an artillery shell hit his residence in Rajouri town, the officials said.
They were rushed to the Government Medical College. Thapa succumbed to his injuries while the condition of his staff members is stated to be critical, according to the officials.

Jammu and Kahsmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah confirms that Additional District Development Commissioner was killed by Pakistan shelling in Rajouri after his house was attacked on Friday.
Abdullah wrote on X platform, "Devastating news from Rajouri. We have lost a dedicated officer of the J&K Administration Services. Just yesterday he was accompanying the Deputy CM around the district & attended the online meeting I chaired. Today the residence of the officer was hit by Pak shelling as they targeted Rajouri town killing our Additional District Development Commissioner Sh Raj Kumar Thappa. I’ve no words to express my shock & sadness at this terrible loss of life. May his soul rest in peace."
Explosion-like sounds were heard in Pathankot district of Punjab early Saturday morning, amid the ongoing military conflict between India and Pakistan.
The blast sounds were heard around 5 am. There was no official word in this regard.
Authorities enforced a blackout in Pathankot on Friday night and urged residents to stay indoors.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Saudi Arabia has confirmed the visit of Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir to India. As per the official statement, Riyadh called for urgent de-escalation between India and Pakistan and to "end the ongoing military confrontation and resort to dialogue and diplomatic channels."
Thirty-two airports across northern and western parts of the country, including Srinagar and Amritsar, have been closed for civilian flight operations till May 15. This decision comes amid the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan since Operation Sindoor.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) and relevant aviation authorities have issued a series of Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) announcing the temporary closure of 32 airports across northern and western India for all civil flight operations.
The closure will be effective from "May 9, 2025, to May 14, 2025 (which corresponds to 0529 IST on 15th May 2025), due to operational reasons," DGCA said in a release.
The airports include Adhampur, Ambala, Amritsar, Awantipur, Bathinda, Bhuj, Bikaner, Chandigarh, Halwara, Hindon, and Jammu.
Other airports are Jaisalmer, Jamnagar, Jodhpur, Kandla, Kangra (Gaggal), Keshod, Kishangarh, Kullu Manali (Bhuntar), and Leh.
Singapore has said it is gravely concerned about the ongoing "military confrontation" between India and Pakistan and has urged both parties to de-escalate.
Tensions between India and Pakistan soared significantly after the Indian armed forces on Wednesday conducted precision strikes targeting terror launchpads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in response to the April 22 Pahalgam attack that had cross-border linkages.

In its latest attack, Pakistan launched several drones over the Line of Control and International Border with India, prompting blackouts and triggering air raid sirens across Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana and Gujarat.
"Drones have been sighted at 26 locations along the International Border and LoC with Pakistan. These include suspected armed drones. The locations include Baramulla, Srinagar, Avantipora, Nagrota, Jammu, Ferozpur, Pathankot, Fazilka, Lalgarh Jatta, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bhuj, Kuarbet and Lakhi Nala, " read the official statement issued by the Defence Ministry on Friday.
"Regrettably, an armed drone targeted a civilian area in Ferozpur, resulting in injuries to members of a local family. The injured have been provided medical assistance and the area has been sanitised by security forces," it added further.
Foreign ministers of the G7 countries and the European Union have released a joint statement urging India and Pakistan to exercise “maximum restraint” and called for “immediate deescalation.”
"The ministers and the high representative of the EU strongly condemn the egregious terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22 and urge maximum restraint from both India and Pakistan. Further military escalation poses a serious threat to regional stability. We are deeply concerned for the safety of civilians on both sides,” the statement said.
“We call for immediate de-escalation and encourage both countries to engage in direct dialogue towards a peaceful outcome. We continue to monitor events closely and express our support for a swift and lasting diplomatic resolution,” it added.
G7 countries comprise of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Pakistan Civil Aviation has issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) that it is closing its airspace from 3:15am (22:15 GMT) on May 10 to 12pm (07.00 GMT). This comes after multiple explosions were heard near Nur Khan Air Base in Rawalpindi.
Three members of a family were injured in Punjab’s Ferozepur district after a Pakistani drone crashed and sparked a fire in a civilian area, in what officials describe as a serious escalation of cross-border drone activity. The incident, reported by the Press Trust of India (PTI), has raised fresh concerns over growing aerial threats along India’s border regions.
The drone crash occurred in the border village of Khai Pheme Ke, where debris from the intercepted drone fell onto the home of Lakhwinder Singh. The resulting blaze left Singh, his wife, and his brother Monu with severe injuries. All three were taken to a private hospital, where Singh remains in critical condition.
Pakistan has shut its airspace till 12 Noon. This comes after explosions were heard across Pakistan in Rawalpindi, Shorkot and Lahore.
