Main Vaapas Aaunga box office collection: Imtiaz Ali has impressed everyone with his latest film. Not only his direction or storytelling, but also the performances, screenplay, music, and songs are equally praised. Set against the 1947 Partition era, the period romantic drama stars Naseeruddin Shah, Diljit Dosanjh, Vedang Raina and Sharvari in key roles. Despite positive reviews, it received a lukewarm response at the box office on Day 1. Though the collections witnessed an upward trend on Day 2 (Saturday) and Day 3 (Sunday), the film saw a significant drop on Day 4 (Monday). Main Vaapas Aaunga is facing stiff competition from other titles such as Governor, Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata and Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past.
According to Sacnilk, the movie earned Rs 1.15 crore on Day 1, Rs 1.85 crore on Day 2 and Rs 2.50 crore on Day 3. On Day 4, it saw a 50.0% drop, collecting a net of Rs 1.25 crore across 2,139 shows at 15% occupancy. With this, Main Vaapas Aaunga's total India net collection stands at Rs 6.75 crore (Rs 8.10 crore gross).
Manoj Bajpayee's Governor has collected Rs 3.95 crore, and Kangana Ranaut's Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata has raked in Rs 4.90 crore in four days. Surprisingly, Vikram Bhatt's Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past is leading the race with Rs 11.55 crore.
Main Vaapas Aayunga will have another competitor this week with Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna-starrer Cocktail 2, which will hit the screens on June 19.
The film revolves around a 95-year-old man who, despite his ill health, wants to go to Pakistan, where he left the love of his life during Partition. His one unfulfilled wish is to go to Sargodha (now in Pakistan) to reunite with his love.
Main Vaapas Aaunga is not just about lost love, but lost life and time, and the scars of Partition left in one's heart.
It's soul-stirring and deeply resonated with the Partition survivors.
