Is Anushka Sharma Starrer Chakda Xpress Shelved? Here's What Dibyendu Bhattacharya Has To Say

Chakda Xpress, the comeback film of Anushka Sharma after Zero (2018), was announced in 2022. The actress, who is playing former captain of Indian national women's cricket team, Jhulan Goswami in the biographical drama, had also started shooting for the film, after months of prep. It has been three years since the announcement, and there has been no update about the Sharma starrer. There have been speculations about Chakda Xpress being shelved. Actor Dibyendu Bhattacharya, who is also part of the film, opened up about the movie's delay.

In an interview with News18 Showsha, Dibyendu said that even he is eagerly waiting for the release of Chakda Xpress. He recalled watching it at director Prosit Roy's house even though it wasn't full completed. He called it a "fantastic" and "brilliant" film, and also raved Anushka's performance in it.

"It is the best performance of Anushka Sharma to date. I don’t know why they are not releasing it. It’s a really, really fantastic film," he said.

Is Chakda Xpress shelved?

When the actor was asked if the film had been shelved or postponed, he said, "I have no idea," and added, "If I had any information about the film, I would tell you first. I really don’t know because Clean Slate is on one side and Netflix is on the other. What’s going on between the two, I have no clue."

"As an actor, I really want the film to see the light of day. A lot of hard work goes into making a film. From the day research begins to the final print, it’s a long and emotionally invested journey. So many people are involved. So many ambitions ride on one film. Many families run on the income generated through it – technicians, daily wage workers. It’s very sad," said the Poacher actor.

Why is Chakda Xpress delayed?

Chakda Xpress is backed by Clean Slate Filmz. As per reports, its partnership with Netflix has ended, which has resulted in delay in its release.

Reports also claim that the production house might repurchase the film from the OTT giant and might release it in other platforms. As of now, nothing has been confirmed either by Clean Slate Filmz or Netflix.
