Some good news for the fans of The Batman sequel. On Friday, writer-director Matt Reeves shared a major update on The Batman 2. He shared a picture of the finished script of the upcoming film.
Sharing a blurry photo of the script, Reeves wrote, "Partners in Crime (Fighters)," and tagged his co-writer Mattson Tomlin. Though the script is blurred, we see a Batman logo at the top.
The Batman 2 was first announced in April 2022. Since then, there have been delays. The update on the completion of the script is indeed a major news for all the fans out there who have been waiting for so long.
The Batman 2 is slated to hit the theatres on October 1, 2027— five and a half years after the original released starring Robert Pattinson. It was a blockbuster that reportedly made more than $772 million globally.
Initially, The Batman – Part 2 was supposed to release on October 2, 2026 but in 2024, it was postponed to October 1, 2027. Filming is said to begin later this year.
Robert Pattinson is returning as the caped crusader, Bruce Wayne and Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman. Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon and Andy Serkis as Alfred, are also expected to be back in the second part of The Batman.
Recently, in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, DC Studios co-chair, James Gunn addressed fans’ frustration over the delay of The Batman Part 2.
He said, "Listen, we’re supposed to get a script in June. I hope that happens. We feel really good about it," and added, "People should get off Matt’s nuts because it’s like, let the guy write the screenplay in the amount of time he needs to write it. That’s just the way it is. He doesn’t owe you something because you like his movie. I mean, you like his movie because of Matt. So let Matt do things the way he does."
He further said, "I am irritated by people. I mean, it’s just that thing people don’t need to be entitled about. It’s going to come out when he feels good about the screenplay. And Matt’s not going to give me the screenplay until he feels good about the screenplay."
