Sardaar Ji 3 Controversy: FWICE Calls For Ban On Diljit Dosanjh For Working With Pakistani Actor Hania Aamir

Post the Pahalgam terror attack, there have been rising tensions between India and Pakistan, which made film bodies to call for a complete ban on the Pakistani artistes in the country. Amidst this, Diljit Dosanjh has stirred controversy with his upcoming release, Sardaar Ji 3 which also stars Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. Following the trailer release of the Punjabi film, Diljit has been criticised on social media for working with Hania. Many called it 'anti-national' and 'disrespect' to India.

The film bodies have also condemned Diljit Dosanjh's association with the Pakistani actor amid the current situation between both nations.

Diljit Dosanjh to be banned in India?

On Hania's casting in Sardaar Ji 3, Ashoke Pandit, President of the Indian Film and Television Directors' Association (IFDA), told Hindustan Times that earlier, they had written a letter to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), and the board refused to give a certificate to the film. He also revealed of seeing Hania Aamir's tweets during Operation Sindoor. The association is going to take action and tell the producers to not work with Diljit. Pandit also said that Diljit "should be fully boycotted in the country by music labels and Punjabi film industry." He even called the Amar Singh Chamkila actor "a compulsive Pakistani lover."

FWICE calls for a ban on Diljit

BN Tiwari, President of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), has also criticised the singer-actor. Tiwari said that by working with a Pakistani actor, Diljit has hurt and disrespected Indian sentiments and also insulted the sacrifice of the brave soldiers. "His preference for Pakistani talent over Indian artists raises serious questions about his loyalty and priorities," he added.

He also stated that if there is a plan to release Sardaar Ji 3 in India, the union will ban it. "For now, they are releasing overseas only. That being said, Diljit working with a Pakistani actor is something we are not ready to overlook," he added.

The president also said that the film body has called for a strict ban on Diljit's all upcoming films, songs or any other sort of projects. "We will also issue a formal letter on the same today. Along with Diljit, we have also called for a ban on the producers of the film regarding all their upcoming films," he said further.

BN Tiwari also shared that they had sent a letter to the makers for an explanation regarding the same, but didn't receive any response. So, they will now directly ban them.

FWICE writes a letter to PM Narendra Modi

As per a report in ANI, the film body expressed anger over the casting of Hania Aamir in Sardaar Ji 3. The letter read: "We, the undersigned office bearers of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), representing scores of dedicated workers who form the backbone of India's film and television industry, write with deep outrage and unwavering conviction over an act that not only defies the laws and directives of our country but insults the soul of our nation."

It further stated, "Diljit Dosanjh, Gunbir Singh Sidhu, Manmord Sidhu and Director Amar Hundal, the public personalities enjoying the privileges of Indian citizenship, have committed an unpardonable act by hiring Pakistani actress Ms. Hania Aamir in their upcoming film ‘Sardaar Ji 3’. This decision is not a mere creative choice — it is a willful affront to the sovereignty, dignity, and security of India."

The film body also demanded the cancellation of passports. "We respectfully urge that their passports be revoked without delay, and that they be permanently barred from availing any rights, privileges, or representation associated with Indian citizenship and national identity," it stated further.

AICWA also calls for ban

The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has also decided to boycott Diljit Dosanjh.

In a post on X, the film body wrote, "We hereby announce a complete boycott of singer and producer Diljit Dosanjh from the Indian film industry. We urge all Indian producers, production houses, music companies, event organizers, and film workers to stand united and not associate with Diljit Dosanjh in any professional capacity.

We will approach various industry unions, workers' bodies, and stakeholders to uphold this patriotic call."

On Sunday, June 22, Dosanjh shared Sardaar Ji 3's trailer on social media and announced that the film will come out overseas only on June 27. The trailer is not available on YouTube in India as it has been geo-blocked. However, it is available on Instagram.
