Aditi Shetty On World Earth Day: Awareness Is Important To Save Our Planet

“I avoid using plastic straws, bags and bottles,” says Aditi Shetty as she celebrated World Earth Day. The entire planet is celebrating this day with much fanfare.

Every year World Earth Day is celebrated on April 22. It’s the 53rd anniversary of the occasion. The idea is to make people aware of the issues concerning Mother Earth, and join hands together to protect the environment. Aditi Shetty shares that it’s imperative that we understand how we can make this world a better place for all and the future generation.

She begins by talking about the three basic things that we all must follow in our daily lives to help environmental conservation. “Basic practices like avoiding usage of plastic, planting more trees, using sustainable fashion, not throwing garbage in public areas and keeping our environment clean, are important for a healthy planet. I avoid using plastic straws, bags & bottles. I have replaced it with cloth bags, metal reusable straws, and glass bottles. I also make sure I don’t waste water and use electricity mindfully,” she adds.

On whether awareness campaigns work, she says, “Awareness is very important to save our planet. Volunteering and joining such groups that support and motivate people to invest in our earth is crucial. Awareness campaigns educate people about the do’s and dont’s and will lead to a better future for our upcoming generations.”

About what should be done to save the planet, she shares, “Like I said above, being aware and taking action can save our planet. We need to talk about our planet on every platform to make sure our young generation can learn the right ways and take care of our Mother Earth. Organising campaigns and movements like beach clean ups, planting trees and encouraging people to stop using plastic can be done via schools, colleges, offices and social groups. With social media booming up we can use platforms like Instagram and twitter to spread awareness talking about sustainable fashion and most vital is to educate yourself about the science behind climate change and show responsibility in addressing it by taking climate action.”
