A trip down to memory lane of Karan Johar’s legacy of celebrating glamorous multi-starrers from 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ to 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani'.

Karan Johar has recently shared glimpses of his next directorial, 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani', starring Bollywood veterans and new-age stars.

However, this is not the first time Karan has brought together an ensemble cast. Every time he is calling the shots, the filmmaker has ensured that it is for a starry ensemble cast. Whether it was his debut 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' or the iconic 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham', Karan's movies have always been star-studded.

'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai'- 1998

With his very first tryst behind the camera, Karan Johar was determined to rope in the biggest names in the industry. His casting of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol as the leads were aptly supported by Rani Mukerji and Salman Khan’s cameo in this love saga. This reel-life romance had fans rooting for SRK and Kajol in real life, too.

'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham' - 2001

Karan Johar pulled yet another casting coup with his second directorial. Real-life couple Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan reunited for the big screen and trusted Karan’s vision. SRK and Kajol made sure not to repeat their chemistry from ‘KKHH’ in this family drama. And with ‘K3G’, the filmmaker introduced Bollywood to the fresh romance of Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor. Despite the long runtime, the audience was not complaining as the legends delivered worthy performances.

'Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna' - 2006

When he returned to the director's seat with Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, SRK was back to face the camera. This film was based on the themes of marital infidelity and dysfunctional relationships which starred Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Preity Zinta and Kirron Kher.

'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' - 2016

A decade later, Karan conceptualized yet another powerful romance for the big screen. This musical directorial brought together stars like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, along with talents like Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, and Fawad Khan. There was an SRK cameo as well. This heart-wrenching romantic film is still remembered for its soulful music and mushy scenes.

Even when he is not on the director 's seat, the filmmaker has managed to cast big names under one umbrella. His production ventures like ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’, 'Dostana' and ‘Kalank’ have featured some of the biggest names in the industry.
