From Classrooms To The AI Age: Heritage Institute Of Technology Celebrates Its 7th Graduation Ceremony

Kolkata, September 6, 2026: It was more than a graduation ceremony—it was a celebration of achievement, aspiration and the changing meaning of engineering in an AI-driven world, as Heritage Institute of Technology (HITK), Kolkata, hosted its 7th Graduation Ceremony at The Heritage Campus yesterday.

As graduating students stepped forward to receive their degrees and medals, the ceremony captured a defining moment in their lives: the transition from the structured world of classrooms and laboratories to a world where Artificial Intelligence, innovation and technological disruption are reshaping virtually every profession.

The distinguished ceremony was graced by Padma Shri Dr. B. V. R. Mohan Reddy, Founder Chairman, Cyient Group and Chairman, Board of Governors, IIT Hyderabad & NIT Warangal, as the Chief Guest, and Prof. Tapas Chakraborty, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), West Bengal.

Delivering a thought-provoking address, Padma Shri Dr. B. V. R. Mohan Reddy spoke about the pervasiveness of Artificial Intelligence across every discipline of education and professional life. He urged the graduating engineers to recognise that technology is no longer confined to the traditional boundaries of engineering and computing.

The engineers of today, he emphasised, must be prepared to accept, understand and blend with emerging technologies, continuously upgrading themselves in a world where the pace of technological change is unprecedented. Prof. Tapas Chakraborty, in his address, highlighted the growing importance of responsible and ethical use of Artificial Intelligence. He appreciated the manner in which Heritage Institute of Technology is imparting education and preparing its students for the demands of a rapidly evolving technological landscape.

He also acknowledged HITK’s distinction as the No. 1 Private Engineering College in West Bengal, reflecting the institution’s sustained pursuit of academic excellence and its growing stature in technical education.

The ceremony also featured an address by Prof. (Dr.) Basab Chaudhuri, Principal, Heritage Institute of Technology, who presented the institute’s academic report and reflected on its journey of excellence, innovation and student achievement.

Padma Shri Mr. P. R. Agarwala, Chairman, Heritage Institute of Technology & Rupa & Co. The conferment of degrees and presentation of medals by the distinguished dignitaries provided the emotional high point of the ceremony.
