Woman Gets Triple Talaq For Giving A Packet Of 'Namkeen' To Her Parents Without Permission

A man gave triple talaq to his 26-year-old wife in Uttar Pradesh for sharing a packet of namkeen(snacks) with her parents.

The woman, while narrating the bizzare story to MLA Atul Garg, said her husband was furious for sharing the snacks without his permission, uttered 'talaq' thrice and kicked her out of the house along with her three-year-old son, reported Hindustan Times.

She also brought to the minister's notice that there had been frequent incidents of domestic violence in the past.

"On Saturday, he had brought two packets of ‘namkeen’, out of which I gave one to my parents who live nearby. My husband got infuriated and shouted at me for having given the snacks to my parents without his permission. He beat me up and uttered ‘talaq talaq talaq’ thrice and threw me and my son out of the house," she was quoted as saying to the paper.

She said she fears an attack by her husband and his brothers in case she decides on pursuing the matter legally.

This is not the only case where a Muslim woman has been subjected to divorce in an absurd fashion. From whatsapp to newspaper advertisements, Indian women have faced it all.

Many human rights group have been advocating for the revocation of the 'flawed' personal law practised by the Muslims. UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath recently had equated the silence of politicos on triple talaq with Draupadi's 'cheer haran' from the Mahabharata, emphasising that urgent reforms were needed in this front.
