The Commonwealth has warned Pakistanwith "stronger actions" if it failed to announce an electiontimeframe before the commonwealth ministerial action group(CMAG) meeting in New York in september this year.

The message was conveyed to Pakistan foreign minister Abdul Sattar when he called on commonwealth secretary generalDon Mckinnon yesterday.

Sattar was told that Pakistan needed to give a "cleartimeframe on the elections before CMAG meeting in September inNew York," sources close to Commonwealth Secretariat said.

Commonwealth had already made it clear in March that there was no justification for delaying parliamentaryelections and called upon the military regime to announce thedates for elections to provincial and national assemblies.
