A matrimonial meet in Bangalore has restricted entries to only "young achievers" and "beautiful girls", according to an ad it got published in an English daily today.
Inviting outrage on social media, an ad ostentatiously inviting the ultra rich for a matrimonial meet at The Leela claimed young achievers who are "successful entrepreneurs, eminent professionals, or graduated from top universities" and "beautiful girls" may apply.
Outlook assumed the identity of a "young (woman) achiever" and sought to know if a successful woman who may not mention her 'beauty' as an accomplishment was eligible to apply.
The term "beautiful girls", it was told to us, was added in the ad after the father of some beauty paegant winner wanted his daughter to be present at the meet, and that anybody who can afford the registration fee of Rs 10,000 was, in fact, eligible to apply.

Catering only to the "ultra rich", young achievers will have to pay Rs 10,000 and high net worth families will have to shell out Rs 25,000 to register. The organisers, on their part, will then serve them a complimentary drink and a veg lunch.
A clip from the ad got viral on social media, with many criticising it for narrowing down a woman's achievements to just her perceived beauty.
The ad. as pointed out by many, is a reflection on a sexist marriage market in India that has different parameters of accomplishments and desirability for a potential bride and groom.
