As for the Indian interest, national record holder Avinash Sable will again be in action in the men’s 3000m steeplechase. The 30-year-old had opened his season with a 13th-place finish in Xiamen, clocking 8 minutes, 22.59 seconds in a top-class field. He will look to go better in Shanghai.

Sable's race will take place at 6:03pm India time on Saturday.

The men’s pole vault is now underway, and all eyes are on Mondo Duplantis! After a solid performance in Xiamen last weekend, will he soar over six meters this time? He starts with a 5.62m height and clears it effortlessly on his first attempt.

But it’s not all smooth sailing for the world record holder. After three jumps, Australia’s Kurtis Marschall leads with a solid 5.72m. Will Mondo rise to the challenge and reclaim the top spot? You won’t want to miss this exciting battle.

The bar is set at 5.82m in the men’s pole vault, and Mondo Duplantis is still finding his rhythm, having made just one jump so far.

Duplantis was bracing for this moment, and with his second jump, he clears 5.92m effortlessly – a mark that's not a big deal for him. The real question now is whether he will go for the 6m mark and potentially set a new record. We’ll soon find out.

And there it is! Cordell Tinch, charging down the track, just made history – the fourth-fastest man ever over the 110m hurdles. A week after his victory in Xiamen, he's done it again with a mind-blowing personal best and meeting record of 12.87. Back-to-back wins, and he’s not slowing down anytime soon. A lot is happening across events as we speak. In the javelin, Elina Tzengko takes the lead with an impressive 64.90m throw in round four. Meanwhile, Japan’s Haruka Kitaguchi stays in contention, throwing 60.88m in the third round and keeping herself within reach of a spot in the Final 3.

In the pole vault, both Mondo Duplantis and Karalis have effortlessly cleared 6.01m, maintaining their strong performances. Over in the high jump, Ukraine's Yaroslava Mahuchikh is the only woman to clear 1.98m, keeping her momentum going.

It’s all happening, and the action is far from over.

India’s Avinash Sable finished 8th in the men’s 3000m steeplechase at the Shanghai Diamond League 2025, clocking 8:23.85, a slight dip from his 8:22.59 run at the Xiamen Diamond League recently, where he had placed 13th. Both performances remain well off his personal best of 8:09.91, leaving room for sharper outings ahead in the season.
