The Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh 3rd T20I match will be played on Wednesday, 16 July 2025, at 7:00 PM IST at the Rangiri RPS International Stadium in Colombo.

Bangladesh roared back to level the T20I series 1-1 with a dominant 83-run win over Sri Lanka in Dambulla. Litton Das anchored the innings with a fluent 76 off 50 balls, while Shamim Hossain added a quickfire 48 to power the visitors to 177/7. Sri Lanka’s chase crumbled early, reduced to 30/4 within six overs, as Shoriful Islam and Rishad Hossain (3/18) ran riot. The hosts were bundled out for just 84 in 15.4 overs, handing Bangladesh win. Kusal Mendis reached 2,000 T20I runs before being run out.

Kusal Mendis departs early! Shoriful Islam strikes in the very first over, removing Mendis for 6 off 4 balls. After conceding a couple of boundaries, Shoriful delivered a well-directed ball on the pads, and Mendis flicked it straight to Hridoy at deep square leg.

Sri Lanka posted 132/7 after struggling with the bat against the Bangladesh spinner. Dasun Shanaka's late cameo of 35 off 25 lifted them past 130, with 22 runs coming in the final over. Mahedi Hasan starred with 4/11. Bangladesh need 133 to seal the series 2-1.

Bangladesh are cruising in their chase of 133. After losing Parvez Hossain Emon on the very first ball, Litton Das and Tanzid Hasan have stitched a solid 63-run stand in 7 overs. Tanzid just smashed two sixes off Asalanka in the 7th over. With just 70 needed from 78 balls, Bangladesh are making a light work with the bat.

Bangladesh now need just 7 runs off 24 balls with 8 wickets in hand. It's been a composed chase so far, led by Tanzid Hasan Tamim (73 off 47). Towhid Hridoy provides calm support with 20 off 22.

Despite Sri Lanka trying spin and pace combinations, the surface hasn’t offered much, and fielding lapses have only added to their woes.

Bangladesh sealed an 8-wicket win in Colombo, chasing down 133 in just 16.3 overs. And this win isn't just big, its historic as this marks the first ever T20I series win for Bangladesh against Sri Lanka. Tanzid Hasan starred with a superb 73, while Towhid Hridoy sealed it with a six and single.

The Lankans had won the ODI and Test series earlier. However, Bangladesh bounce back to win the T20I series and avoid a whitewash in their tour of Sri Lanka.

Mahedi Hasan who bagged four wickets conceding only 11 runs earns the Player of the Match honour. After the match he said, "I know the wickets in Sri Lanka, the ball was spinning in the last two games so I stuck to my lines and lengths. The new ball had a bit of spin so I tried to land it in good areas and luckily, I was successful."

In the post match event the captain of Sri Lanka Charith Asalanka said, "My thinking was to bat first and have a good score and defend it, we like to defend it at the Premadasa stadium but I misread the pitch. We could have done better especially in the first half with our batting, we needed to take more responsibility. At this moment, this is the best combination we have and we have to improve before the World Cup. It's disappointing but it can happen to any team but we will try our best to comeback."

Liton Das, captain of Bangladesh, earns the Player Of The Series honour. He scored 32 runs today but his 76 runs in the 2nd T20I was really crucial that helped the Bangla Tigers secure an 82-run victory.

"I have no words to express at the moment how our team played, the boys showed character," said Das. "We didn't play well in the first T20I but then we played well in back-to-back T20Is. Definitely, if we had won the toss, we would have batted first. It's a big achievement for Bangladesh, earlier we didn't win here but this win will boost Bangladesh. I believe that this surface will suit Mahedi and that's why he played," he added.
