It was a fuller-length delivery that turned in from the fourth stump line, and Chandimal, attempting a premeditated reverse sweep, only managed a bottom edge that flew towards the vacant slip region.

Litton Das reacted swiftly, moving to his right to complete a comfortable catch. Bangladesh finally break through after a long wait, ending a marathon 194-run stand. A composed and resilient knock from the former Sri Lankan skipper comes to a close, just as he looked set to reach three figures.

An authoritative batting display from Sri Lanka saw them seize control on Day 2 of the first Test against Bangladesh at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.
