Mauna Kea (highest from the base)
(4205m): A mountain could also be measured from its base, and Hawaii’s Mauna Kea soars 10,203m from its base on the floor of the Pacific ocean.
Chomolungma (highest from sea level)
(8850m): That’s the Tibetan name; it’s Sagarmatha in Nepal. Mt Everest is the highest elevation from the useful but rarely encountered measure, the global mean sea level.
