Delhi's former Health Minister Satyendar Jain, who is currently lodged at the Tihar Jail following his arrest last year in a PMLA case, has reportedly written a letter to the prison authorities requesting for two to three inmates in his cell for company, citing depression due to loneliness and doctor’s advice for more social interactions.
The Tihar jail administration has issued a show-case notice to the superintendent of jail no. 7 for moving three men to the cell of the minister following his request.
The ED, had in its supplementary charge sheet, stated that the investigation done under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) so far has revealed that the Delhi Excise Policy, 2021-22 was created by top leaders of the AAP to continuously generate and channel illegal funds to themselves.

The money laundering case, in which Jain is in judicial custody, was initiated on the basis of an FIR registered by the CBI. The FIR had alleged that Jain, while holding the office as a minister in the Government of Delhi, during the period February 14, 2015 to May 31, 2017, had acquired assets which are disproportionate to his known sources of income.
According to a report by The Indian Express, a jail official said, “Jain in his application said he is feeling depressed and low because of loneliness. A psychiatrist suggested him for more social interactions and he requested to lodge him with at least two more persons. He also provided two persons’ names."

Earlier, a prison official was suspended for allegedly providing VIP treatment to the former minister. Videos of the jailed minister had also emerged where he is seen eating uncooked vegetables and fruits in his Tihar jail cell.
The videos surfaced days after he moved a city court alleging he is not being provided raw food according to his religious beliefs.
Videos had also emerged showing Jain purportedly receiving massage and meeting visitors in his prison cell.
