The police fired tear gas shells to disperse a mob in Manipur's capital Imphal on Thursday. The mob had gathered at Khwairamband Bazaar in Imphal where the body of a man killed in a gunfight in Kangpokpi district earlier in the day was brought and put in a coffin. Manipur has been in the grips of ethnic violence between the state's Meitei and tribal communities since May 3. Over 100 people have so far been killed in the violence.
