An inscription that may be 500-600 years old has been found in Ausa Bhuikot Fort in Maharashtra's Latur district, a researcher said on Monday.
It was found on a wall close to the main door and has the name 'Shri Rautrao Jagdev' written in old Marathi along with depictions of the sun, moon, and 'Shivling' as well as a sword and five small circles, researcher Krishna Gudade said.
"It is possibly from the Bahmani period 500-600 years ago. Rautrao is generally a title used at the time for the chief of cavalry. A lot of people in Kharola village in Latur use Rautrao as their surname, though their original surname was Jadhav," he said.
