Texas: Girl Born In Jail Tops Class, Heading To Harvard

Aurora Sky Castner was born in jail when her birth mother was incarcerated and has been brought up by her single father. she came third in her class as she graduated high school and is heading to join Harvard University in the fall, this year.

Aurora Sky Castner was born in the Galveston County Jail in Texas in the United States of America. She graduated high school by coming in third in her class and with a dream to study law, she is heading to join Harvard University in the fall.

After Castner was born in prison while her mother was incarcerated, it was her father who picked her up from there and has been a single father to her ever since.

According to reports, Castner was a bright student from childhood and to help her achieve her dreams, she was suggested to be a part of a mentor programme where she met Mona Hamby who has been a part of her life till date.

Mona Hamby reportedly said, "I was given a paper about her. Her hero was Rosa Parks, her favorite food was tacos from Dairy Queen and she loved to read. I thought this sounds like a bright little girl." Castner when asked to speak about Hamby, reportedly said, "Everything that Mona taught me was very valuable in the same way that everything that I went through before Mona was very valuable.”

According to reports, Castner met her birth mother once when she was 14 after her birth there. In her essay for the application to Harvard, she reportedly started it by saying, "I was born in prison."

Reports suggest that Hamby and her husband, Randy had toured the Harvard campus with Castner in March 2022 and that's when Castner had decided to join this university.
