France on Friday celebrated Bastille Day and Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined the celebrations as the Guest of Honour. A military parade was held in which an Indian tri-services contingent also took part. Indian Rafale fighter planes also conducted a flypast. The Bastille Day is France's national holiday and celebrates the beginning of the French Revolution in 1789 with the storming of the Bastille fortress.
