Tovino Thomas 'Nadikar Thilakam' Renamed After Row With Sivaji Ganesan Fans; Called 'Nadikar' Now

Starring Tovino Thomas, the name of 'Nadikar Thilakam' has been changed after Sivaji Ganesan fans wrote to the makers. The film is titled 'Nadikar' now.

Tovino Thomas’ upcoming movie, ‘Nadikar Thilakam’, had met with controversy even before its release. The name of the movie had upset Sivaji Ganesan fans. Nadigarthilagam Sivaji Samooganala Peravai, a fan association of the actor, had written to the makers and asked them to change the name of the film. Following this role, the name of the movie has been changed and now the movie is called ‘Nadikar.’

Sivaji Ganesan fans had written to the makers of this Tovino Thomas starrer to change the name of the film. They mentioned that ‘Thilakam’ is a moniker for the Tamil icon. They mentioned that the full title should only be used for a biopic on his life. The makers have now removed ‘Thilakam’ from the title and have ‘Nadikar’ which means an actor.

At the first look poster launch of ‘Nadikar’, the makers invited Sivaji Ganesan’s son – Prabhu. News18 quoted the actor saying, “The sobriquet my father was given has a great deal of sentimental significance attached to it. I came to know about the film when some of my father’s fans called me up saying there was a film being made in Kerala in his name. I was surprised and called up Lal only to enquire, I then respectfully asked him if it would be feasible to rename the movie.”

Prabhu thanked the makers and director Jean Paul Lal for changing the name of the film. He mentioned that he had put no pressure on them. Starring Tovino Thomas, ‘Nadikar’ is set to release on May 3, 2024.
