Pooja Hegde has been riding high on the success of her latest film, ‘Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’ opposite Salman Khan. The film did ring the cash registers at the ticket windows and turned out to be the biggest hit of the last month. With the success of this film, she established her status as a pan-India actress once again.

Talking of the differences between the South film industries and Bollywood, Pooja Hegde says, “I genuinely think that there is nothing that is so drastic. It’s just the language that changes and not the people. When you work in a different language, the characteristics of a Telugu girl, the way she behaves would probably be slightly different to a girl who is born and brought up in Bombay. The way she moves, her body, the way she speaks. Also, within Maharashtra, a town girl and a city girl have a different outlook towards life and that affects the way you particularly behave. So, it’s just that and not so much about the industry.”

As she has worked extensively in all the southern film industries and Bollywood as well, she is the perfect one to talk about the debate around Hindi films vs South films – a thing that keeps coming up every few months. She doesn’t shy away from answering.

“What has changed now is that the language isn’t a barrier for anyone to watch content. We are open to understanding the diversity that is there within India. We are accepting that and understanding that. The core emotion is the same and the film works in all languages,” says Pooja Hedge, putting her point of view on this everlasting debate.
