Nikhita Gandhi has been one of the most prolific singers of today’s times. She has time and again given her fans chartbusters to groove on to. However, she has also been a victim of her songs being dubbed by other singers.
Yes, you read that right.
In today’s times, it’s become common thing that music directors get a song sung by numerous singers, and finally, select one of them for the final version which goes on the movie’s soundtrack. This, however, wasn’t a common thing even till a decade ago.
Talking about her voice getting dubbed, Nikhita Gandhi says, “Yes, that’s happened with me quite a few times and it used to bother me initially because you get emotionally attached to a song and then you feel very strange when you cannot claim it your own.”

So, what does she do in order to not get angry at the fact that her song has been dubbed by someone else? “I realized with time that if it happens with me, it happens with other people as well. So, I am sure maybe I have replaced people in songs just like they might have replaced me. So, in that way, it kind of evens things out,” says Nikhita Gandhi.
That’s such a sweet and optimistic way to look at things.
“I also realized that it isn’t a song that I wrote or composed, so it’s important for me to understand that my role to play is to fit the song and be the right voice for it. And sometimes that can take trial and error because Bollywood music is very situational,” concludes Nikhita Gandhi.

The ace songster has been on a roll this year. She has had a couple of hits from ‘Shehzada’ and a chartbuster in ‘Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar’. She is soon going to be heard in ‘Udta Parinda’ from Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif-Emraan Hashmi starrer ‘Tiger 3’. The film also will have Shah Rukh Khan’s character from ‘Pathaan’ make a surprise guest appearance.
