Deepika Padukone Talks About Her Much-Criticised Outfit From FIFA World Cup Final, Says ‘it's Really Comfortable’

At the FIFA World Cup finale, Deepika Padukone presented the prestigious FIFA World Cup trophy before the match began.

Deepika Padukone and her husband Ranveer Singh, on Sunday, were part of the FIFA World Cup final between Argentina and France. However, the actress was also there to fulfil her ambassador duties for the international fashion label, Louis Vuitton.

She, alongside Spanish football player Iker Casillas, was chosen to present the prestigious FIFA World Cup trophy before the match began. As she is an ambassador for the fashion label, she was there to unveil the trophy from its custom-made case. In fact, she was the first Indian to receive this honour.

However more than that, what caught everyone’s attention on social media was her outfit that didn't match the occasion. While some social media users called it 'atrocious', others questioned, 'Why is she in a bag?'.

Now finally, the label and Deepika, both shared an Instagram Reel where they talk about the look leading up to the presentation. The video was captioned, "A day at the #FIFAWorldCup2022 Final with #DeepikaPadukone. The House Ambassador got ready with #LouisVuitton before revealing the ultimate prize in football. The video has Deepika talking about how she is both nervous and full of gratitude at being chosen for the event. She is also seen signing a football and an official book on the one-of-a-kind trophy trunk. "It feels like a really proud moment for me," she shared, adding that it is her first visit to Doha as well as the FIFA World Cup.

The actress also talked about how the outfit, designed by women's creative director Nicolas Ghesquiere, was also comfortable.She said, "It's a very special look by my very dear friend Nicolas. And what I love about it is that it's so perfect for what we are going to do, which is unveiling the trophy. But at the same time it's really comfortable."

Despite her explanation and defence in a way, several fans questioned the label on their fashion sense.

On the work front, Deepika will next be seen in Siddharth Anand's Pathaan releasing on January 25, 2023 along with Shah Rukh Khan.
