While predicting the Day 1 collection of 'Merry Christmas', Johar said, ''I would be happy if the film opens with anywhere between 1.5 to 2 crore to start with. Then depending on the comments, word of mouth and everything, it can pick up. On Friday evening, it can see a rise in collection but if it opens with 1.5 to 2 crore on Day 1, then there is another weekend and on weekdays, and it can capitalise and also, there are no big releases till 'Fighter'. So, it can get a good buzz, space and run''.

Produced by Matchbox Pictures, and Tips Films Pvt. Ltd., 'Merry Christmas' has received positive reviews. Apart from Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi, the film also stars Radhika Apte, Sanjay Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Ashwini Kalsekar, and Radhika Sarathkumar in key roles.
