'Dunki' Box Office Collection Day 8: Shah Rukh Khan Starrer Sees A Single Digit Earning

Shah Rukh Khan starrer 'Dunki' is expected to cross the Rs 200 crore mark over its second weekend in India. It has already crossed the Rs 300 crore mark globally.

'Dunki' which had an opening of almost Rs 30 crore on December 21, Thursday earned single-digit for the first time since its release. On Day 8, the Shah Rukh Khan starrer minted Rs 9 crore nett at the box office as per a report in Sacnilk. On Day 7, it collected Rs 10.5 crore, so, on the eighth day of its release, 'Dunki's box office collections were steady. The total collection of Rajkumar Hirani's film now stands at Rs 161 crore nett. and it is expected to cross the Rs 200 crore mark over its second weekend in India. The film had an overall 14.36% Hindi occupancy on Thursday.

'Dunki' saw the lowest opening day collections compared to Shah Rukh’s last two blockbusters, 'Pathaan' and 'Jawan'. The former made Rs 57 crore on day one, while the latter collected Rs 75 crore on opening day. 

The film has got a positive reception overseas. 'Dunki' has collected Rs 305 crore worldwide until Day 7. Day 8 collections are yet to come. It has already entered the top-grossers club of Bollywood in 2023. 

'Dunki' is a family entertainer and it has got mixed reviews from critics and audiences. In his review for Outlook India, Prateek Sur gave the film 2.5 stars. He wrote, '''Dunki’ isn’t Rajkumar Hirani’s best work. He has done way better films, which bumped up the expectations from this film. To add to that, this time he had Shah Rukh Khan for the first time. Yet, it didn’t live up to the hype.''

Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Boman Irani, Vikram Kochhar and Anil Grover have pivotal roles in 'Dunki'. The film is produced by Rajkumar Hirani and Gauri Khan and written by Abhijat Joshi, Rajkumar Hirani, and Kanika Dhillon.
