For nearly six decades, the Hindustan Group of Institutions (HGI) has stood as one of India's most respected names in education, driven by a singular vision—to make quality education accessible while nurturing leaders capable of transforming society. Founded in 1966 by the visionary educationist Late Dr. K.C.G. Verghese, the Group has grown from a pioneering engineering institution into a comprehensive educational ecosystem spanning engineering, technology, aviation, management, health sciences, law, liberal arts, architecture, design, K–12 education, and community education.
At the heart of this remarkable journey lies Dr. Verghese's timeless philosophy: "To Make Every Man a Success and No Man a Failure." This guiding principle continues to inspire every institution under the Hindustan banner, reflecting an unwavering commitment to academic excellence, innovation, inclusivity, and nation-building.
Today, Hindustan Group educates over 20,000 students from India and around the world through a diverse portfolio of undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, research, and doctoral programmes, under the leadership of Dr. Anand Jacob Verghese, Chairman of the Hindustan Group of Institutions (HGI), who assumed leadership of the Hindustan Group in 2006 following the passing of its founder, with a conviction that universities must evolve beyond classrooms.
The Group has evolved into a multidisciplinary educational enterprise with institutions catering to learners across every stage of life.
A Comprehensive Educational Ecosystem
The Hindustan Group comprises several distinguished institutions, each contributing uniquely to India's educational landscape:
Orient Flights Aviation Academy (OFAA)
Hindustan International Schools
Hindustan College, Mysuru
Hindustan Community College
Together, these institutions offer students opportunities across disciplines while fostering interdisciplinary learning and global exposure.
Building Excellence in Engineering and Technology
The journey began with the establishment of HIET in 1966, which became one of India's earliest private engineering institutions and later earned recognition for excellence in technical education and aviation training. Over the decades, it has produced thousands of engineers and aviation professionals serving organisations across India and abroad.
In 1985, the Group established Hindustan Institute of Technology & Science (HITS), which has since emerged as one of India's leading multidisciplinary universities. Today, HITS offers programmes across engineering, management, architecture, law, aviation, fashion, communication, allied health sciences, pharmacy, liberal arts, and online education.
