Iga Swiatek began her French Open 2026 campaign with a dominant 6-1, 6-2 victory over Australian wildcard Emerson Jones in the first round at Court Philippe-Chatrier. The multiple-time Roland Garros champion completely controlled the match from the baseline with aggressive returns and heavy topspin groundstrokes. Despite a brief fightback from the 17-year-old Australian in the second set, Swiatek never looked under pressure and comfortably sealed progression in straight sets to continue her strong run on clay in Paris.
The Iga Swiatek vs Sara Bejlek, French Open 2026 women's singles second-round match will be live streamed on the Sony LIV and FanCode apps and websites in India. It will be telecast on the Sony Sports Network TV channels in the country.
The players arrive on Court Philippe-Chatrier and after the customary pre-match formalities and warm-up, play gets underway. Swiatek serves first in the opening set and holds without much trouble.
Four-time Roland Garros champions Swiatek breaks Bejlek's service straight away to take a 2-0 lead. Her Czech opponent, however, breaks right back to stake her claim. The Polish star nonchalantly breaks once again and then holds to go 4-1 up in the first set.
After a bit of heave-ho, Swiatek takes the first set 6-2 against Beljek. The Polish star is a set away from cruising into the third round.
Swiatek starts strongly in the second set as well, continuing the hold-break routine to zoom to a 2-0 lead. Beljek needs a truly spectacular turnaround to survive from here.
Sara Beljek fights back, giving Swiatek a taste of her own medicine to break and hold to bring the set back on serve at 3-4. The young Czech is now serving to try and level the set at 4-4.
Swiatek cuts short Beljek's resistance in a jiffy. She claims three straight games in the second set to win the match 6-2, 6-3 in one hour and 34 minutes and ease into the third round. The Pole will next face the winner of the second-round clash between former Roland Garros champion Jelena Ostapenko and Magda Linette.
