World Athletics Relays Live Updates, Day 2: India Set National Record In 4x100m Mixed Relay

Men’s 4x400m qualification round 2 is set, and India are right in the thick of it. The quartet of Dharmveer Choudhary, Amoj Jacob, Rajesh Ramesh, and Vishal TK line up in Heat 2, Lane 8, a tricky outside lane where awareness and pacing will matter from the gun.

The benchmark looms large, India’s national record stands at 2:59.05s, and that will be the reference point as they go up against serious firepower in Great Britain, Poland, and Japan.

The equation is simple but brutal -- only the top two teams from each heat move on to the World Championships, so there’s no room for hesitation once the baton starts moving.

India’s 4x100m mixed relay team produced a mixed bag of outcomes in their heat, finishing sixth with a season-best 41.35s. The quartet showed sharp execution and cleaner baton exchanges to deliver a new national record, but it wasn’t enough to secure a World Championships berth.

While the qualification spots went to Australia and Switzerland, India leave with progress in hand, a record-breaking run that still reflects how close they are getting to the next level.
