Javelin Throw: Neeraj Chopra Reclaims No. 1 Spot In World Rankings, Arshad Nadeem Sits At Fourth

Neeraj has registered his third victory of the season after winning the javelin throw event at the Ostrava Golden Spike with a throw of 88.16m

Neeraj Chopra, the Tokyo Olympics gold medallist, has jumped to the top spot in the latest rankings released by the World Athletics this week. Neeraj had lost the No 1 ranking to Grenada's Anderson Peters in September last year, after the latter had clinched the Diamond League final in Brussels.

Neeraj leads the rankings with 1445 points with Anderson Peters securing 1431 points. Julian Weber is in third with 1407 points whereas Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem occupies fourth spot with 1370 points.

Neeraj Chopra - Season So Far:

Neeraj competed at the Diamond League opener in Doha wherein he broken the 90m mark for the first time with a throw of 90.23m, topping his previous throw of 89.94m. Despite the feat, Neeraj came in second to Germany's Julian Weber, who won the event with a throw of 91.06m.

Soon after, Neeraj was seen competing at the Janusz Kusocinski Memorial in Chorzow, Poland where he threw 84.14m to again finish second to Weber (86.12m).

Neeraj finally defeated Weber at the Paris Diamond League as the 27-year-old with a throw of 88.16m.
