A'ja Wilson says her injured wrist is the last thing on her mind, having returned to action with a 34-point haul in the Las Vegas Aces' victory over the Golden State Valkyries.
The Aces beat the Valkyries 104-102 at the Michelob ULTRA Arena on Saturday, helped by Wilson's best haul since May 31 (35 versus the Los Angeles Sparks).
Wilson also provided 16 assists and got support from Jackie Young, whose 30 points included two free throws to pull the Aces into the lead for the final time late on.
Wilson had missed Thursday's 70-68 defeat to the Washington Mystics due to a wrist issue she sustained in an 87-78 loss to the New York Liberty two days earlier.
Speaking after Saturday's win, the three-time WNBA MVP – who also missed three games after being placed in the concussion protocol earlier this year – praised Las Vegas' medical team.
"It is very hard for me to sit out games," she said. "It's very hard for me to follow directions sometimes because I want to be out there with my team.
"I'm going to continue to play through it because they're going to make sure that I'm ready and I'm comfortable.
"Once I get going, once you have that momentum, the last thing I'm thinking about is my wrist. When it comes to aches and pains, it's all part of the game.
"I'm going to play through it like anybody else in this league, who are probably playing through a lot of stuff."
The Aces are now 10-11 for the season, though only one of their victories have come without Wilson.
"It's been tough for me this year, because this is probably the most I've ever been hurt throughout my whole career," she said.
"So it's been a new space for me, but it's also allowed me to get within myself and see the game with a different eye."
The Aces return to action on Wednesday, when they visit the Dallas Wings. After hosting the Atlanta Dream the following Tuesday, they embark on a four-game road stretch.
