Rain forced Netflix to delay Alex Honnold’s live climb of Taipei 101 by 24 hours. The three-stage route involved various risks, largely because the building lacked natural handholds. Unlike a typical rock face, the skyscraper’s surfaces were smooth, exposed, and difficult to grip.
"I think as long as I remember, I've always wanted to climb things. I free soloed thousands of rock faces. I've climbed in the Arctic, the Jungle and the Desert, but I've never free soloed a skyscraper. It's been a lifelong dream of mine, I've always wanted to climb the coolest things that I can find." - Honnold told Netflix.
The pre-climb build-up is live only on Netflix and WWE superstar Seth Rollins is among the panellists and he is absolutely hyped for this event. Fans have turned up in numbers beneath the Taipei 101 building.

Another obstacle incoming for Alex Honnold and this time it's the huge dragons watching over the Taipei 101 building. It is not going to get any easier for him.
God ,he is climbing these structures as if it's nothing. The dragons are super curved and slippery but Honnold's upper body and core strength is really helping him.
It is interesting the way he is climbing, especially the Ruyi and the Dragons. He surely needed a lot of strength training during his preparation for this climb. Gosh this man is crazy. He is waving to the crowd, speaking to the panellists and cleaning his shoes from 200+ feet above.
More than 40 minutes into the Alex Honnold's Netfilx Taipei 101 climb and the American crosses another Dragon structure. Of course, Honnold has visualised every single moment and he reaches the 60th floor.
Alex Honnold is being very decisive at the moment and has significantly slowed down his pace as he continues to go higher. You can see how well he has prepared for this climb. So much so that people inside the building, who are trying to click pictures and wave, is not putting him under any pressure.
His heart rate is at 166.
Alex Honnold is nearing the top of the Taipei 101 building and is on the final stages of the climb.
Honnold is absolutely unshakable. This is what mental fortitude can do. He is on the 90th floor now and there is a very little left for him to climb. The climber says he cannot hear the crowd anymore.
Wait did he just campus his way to the top. This is surreal stuff. It is literally like he is pulling up and ascending on. Seth Rollins can't believe what he is seeing.
He has made it to the 101st floor.
Wow. Alex Honnold has completed it and he is taking a selfie from the top of the Chinese Taipei 101 building. Incredible from the American climber. He visualised the whole thing and today he has conquered it.
