ICC Men's T20I Cricketer Of The Year 2023: India Star Among Four Nominees For Top Honour

India national cricket team star Suryakumar Yadav is joined by contemporaries from Zimbabwe, Uganda, and New Zealand in the ICC Men's T20I Cricketer of the Year 2023 nominees list

India national cricket team star Suryakumar Yadav has been named one of the four nominees for the ICC Men's T20I Cricketer of the Year 2023 list. Yadav is the current holder of the award after winning the top honour in 2022; he will look to defend his crown from Zimbabwe's Sikander Raza, Uganda's Alpesh Ramjani, and New Zealand's Mark Chapman. (RSA Vs IND Scorecard | Match Blog)

Suryakumar ended the year 2023 with 733 runs in 17 innings - scores that are remarkable on their own, even before adding his new role for India toward the end of the year. Post-ICC ODI Cricket World Cup, the batter captained a new-look India side to a T20I series victory over Australia, impressing the selectors enough to carry in his role during India's Tour of South Africa 2023-24. Under his leadership, India drew the overseas series.

Zimbabwean all-rounder Sikander Raza, too, enjoyed a stellar year, contributing plenty with both the bat and the ball, with his team's failure to qualify for the T20 World Cup 2024 the only blemish on an otherwise spotless season. Uganda did secure their berth in the T20 World Cup and Alpesh Ramjani's sensational performances with the ball earned him a spot on the nominees list alongside Suryakumar and Raza.

New Zealand batter Mark Chapman rounded-off the four-man shortlist, having added more than 500 runs to his career total in 2023.
