The new Formula One season is upon us with the Australian Grand Prix all set to get underway from March 7 with the First Practice session at Melbourne's Albert Park.
F1 heads into a new era this year, with unprecedented changes across the chassis (car) and power unit, which now feature an almost 50:50 output split between the turbo 1.6-liter V6 engine and electrical energy harvested from the brakes, one that requires a new, often counterintuitive driving style from the drivers.
Moreover, the old DRS overtaking aid is gone after 15 years and, while new “active aerodynamics” do a similar job, they can be used at any time. Ferrari has the most eye-catching solution so far with a wing which turns upside down on straights for extra speed.
Speaking of Albert Park, the venue has hosted the Australian Grand Prix since 1995, taking over from Adelaide, which previously held the race for ten consecutive years.
Saturday, March 7: Practice 3 from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. IST
Qualifying from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. IST.
Sunday, March 8: The Australian Grand Prix 2026 starts at 9:30 a.m. IST.
Fans in India can watch the Australian Grand Prix on the FanCode app and website.
