This is how the two teams line up today:
The match gets underway at the Pudong Football Stadium. Shanghai Port kicking from left to right and Ulsan HD in the other direction in the first half.
After a sluggish start, the home team is beginning to make offensive inroads. Ulsan HD's defence is forced into action as Shanghai crowd their box in numbers and are just about prevented from scoring an opening goal in the 13th and 14th minutes.
At Melbourne Rectangular Stadium, Melbourne City are up against Gangwon FC in a simultaneous Group A fixture of the AFC Champions League Elite. The hosts have already sealed their round of 16 berth while Gangwon FC, sitting eighth in the standings, need maximum points to stay in contention. They are looking to stay tight at the back against a Melbourne side known for late goals.
After three minutes of stoppage time, the referee brings the first half to a scoreless end. Ulsan HD have not got the goal they need to win and sneak into the round of 16, though they have enjoyed the better chances so far.
The teams return from the lemon break and the second half has begun. Shanghai Port now kicking from right to left and Ulsan HD in the opposite direction.
We still await an opening goal in this encounter. Remember that Shanghai Port are already eliminated and have nothing to lose, while Ulsan HD need a win to seal their knockout berth.
The regulation 90 minutes have elapsed and four minutes added as stoppage time to the second half. Can Ulsan HD find the winning goal they desperately need?
Heartbreak for Ulsan HD! They can't find a goal and the 0-0 stalemate hands them one point, which leaves them in ninth spot, level on points with Gangwon FC but agonizingly behind on total goals scored (eight versus 11). Gangwon also play a 0-0 draw with Melbourne City but that proves just about enough for their round of 16 entry.
