After the ever-rousing Champions League anthem in a packed Parc des Princes, referee Alejandro Hernandez blows his whistle to get the match underway. It's PSG in their all-black away kit who take the kick off, booting it deep into Chelsea's half.
A good chance for Chelsea as a cross from the right by James finds the toe of Joao Pedro, but the Brazilian can't direct it goalwards. The deflected cross also misses the onrushing Neto by inches.
Directly at the other end, Jorgensen ends up giving the ball away in front of the box, but Dembele can't make use of that. Neves has a shot from distance that is straight at the goalkeeper.
Barcola finds the back of the net with a good finish, and PSG are up ahead with less than 10 minutes of the clock. A good cross from the right by Dembele finds Neves, who heads it down towards Barcola. The youngster chests the ball down before having a half-volley, which takes a slight deflection and finds the back of the net.
PSG are a whisker away from doubling their lead. Dembele receives the ball on the edge of the box and pulls the trigger with his left, thundering against the inside of the crossbar. Jorgensen might have gotten a fingertip on the ball. Not particularly good defending from Chelsea, who had lots of players in the box but not even one of them attempted to close down the Frenchman.
PSG's decision to play Marquinhos at right back almost backfires. Neto receives the ball and gets the better of the Brazilian defender with his pace. Neto cuts inside in front of the goal, and the ball hits Pacho before it rolls to Safonov.
Chelsea have done very well in the last 10 minute or so, with the wingers having lots of space going forward. Cucurella floats in a good cross into the box, and Joao Pedro gets a good head on it. However, the looping header does not trouble Safonov too much.
Chelsea's French full-back Gusto scores to draw the visitors level in Paris!! A good cross-field pass by Enzo finds Gusto in acres of space on the edge of the box, and he fires a half-volley. It wasn't a clean strike and was straight at Safonov, but the goalkeeper can't prevent it from hitting the underside of his body and finding the back of the net.
PSG are enjoying a bit of possession, but they have been unable to breach the Chelsea backline. The Blues, meanwhile, are happy to sit back, soak the pressure, and look to hit PSG on the counter, which Neto almost did before Safonov came rushing out of his box to kick the ball away.
Sensation break by PSG, and Dembele finishes it with a solo effort to put the Parisins ahead! Palmer had the chance, stinging the palms of Safonov from a cross by James. PSG break at the other end, with a through ball finding the run of Dembele. The Frenchman has Hakimi for support for goes for the shot, finding the bottom corner after a shoulder drops.
Chelsea push hard for an equaliser in the one minute of stoppage time, but PSG hold firm to take a slender lead with them to the break. A big second half awaits.
Both sets of players are out of the tunnels and take their positions on the pitch. No changes at the break for either team side as far as I can see. The referee blows his whistle, and Chelsea get us underway.
A fairly even start to the second half from both sides. Chelsea have continued to rely on long balls to catch the PSG defence by surprise. Another long ball is dealt with by Neves, who is barged to the ground be Joao Pedro, and the referee blows for a foul.
Sharp, quick, direct football from Chelsea, and Enzo Fernandez makes it two all!! Doue waits way too long to receive a cross-field pass. Neto intercepts and runs with it with blistering pace before squaring it to Enzo, who hits it first time past Safonov.
The night is over for Doue, who was at fault for Chelsea's second goal. Enrique brings on Kvaratskhelia, hoping that the Georgian can be the difference maker in the last half-an-hour or so.
Dembele's first match since returning from injury ends in the 69th minute. The Ballon d'Or winner scored a good solo goal, but he is repalced by the Korean international Lee Kang-in. Interesting to see how Enrique shapes up the formation after this change.
A massive error at the back by Jorgensen, gifiting an easy goal for Vitinha!! Jorgensen tries to play out from the back but Barcola intercepts the tame pass, and Kvaratskhelia lays it off for Vitinha to lob it over the goalkeeper's head into the back of the net.
A couple of defensive changes for PSG. Lucas Hernandez replaces the goalscorer Barcola, and Mayulu comes on in place of Zaire-Emery. Just over 12 minutes of normal time for PSG to hold on to for a first-leg lead.
Another lethal counter attack by Chelsea, with Cucurella finding Neto, who lays it off for Enzo. The Argentine is free and with acres of space ahead, and plays a good cross for Joao Pedro, who finishes first time and finds the back of the net. However, the offside flag goes up against Neto, which VAR confirms.
With time ticking down for the visitors, Rosenior brings on two new players – Delap and Lavia. Palmer and Joao Pedro comes off. Quite surprisingly, as they were two of the liveliest players up front for Chelsea.
A sensational strike by Kvaratskhelia to seal the match for PSG!! Mayulu wins the ball from James near the halfway line, and the ball makes his way to Kvaratskhelia on the left. The Georgian takes a couple of touches to cut inside before hitting a curling strike from the edge of the area. It flies past the outstretched arms of Jorgensen and into the corner.
Another bit of kamikaze by Jorgensen, who gives it away straight from goal kick. The ball makes it to a PSG player, who squares it back for Lee to roll into an empty net. However, the offside flag goes up. Enzo is livid at his goalkeeper, and quite rightly so.
Meanwhile, the fourth official indicates a minimum of three minutes of stoppage time to be added at the end of regulation time.
After Neto's shove on a ball boy leads to a bit of a melee on the touchline, Kvaratskhelia hits Chelsea on the counter right after restart. A brilliant [ass by Hakimi from the wings, picking out Kvaratskhelia with perfection. The Georgian hits it first time, and Jorgensen fails to keep the shot out despite getting a good hand on it.
The final whistle goes in Paris, and PSG have one foot in the quarter-finals after a brilliant performance tonight. To be honest, Chelsea were the better of the two sides for almost an hour, but the final 20 minutes or so belonged to PSG, with Kvaratskhelia's introducing turning the tie on its head.
