Greetings and welcome, everyone. We are building up to the start of the SAFF U20 Championship 2026 encounter between sub-continental rivals Bangladesh and Pakistan. Stay with us for live updates.
The match kicks off at around 4:15pm IST. The Bangladesh vs Pakistan, SAFF U20 Championship 2026 Group B game will be live streamed on the Sportzworkz YouTube channel in India. It will not be telecast on any TV channel in the country.
The national anthems and other pre-match formalities are out of the way. The game gets underway at the National Stadium; Bangladesh kicking from right to left and Pakistan the other way in the first half.
It's a fiery start to the game, with chances at both ends inside the first 10 minutes. Bangladesh earn an early corner but are unable to make anything of it, while Pakistan exert pressure on their opponent's goal as well.
Bangladesh up the ante with their attacking moves. They are really pressing forward and not giving Pakistan much space to express themselves. The Green Shirts are not seeing much of the ball and need to ride out this phase. The drinks break comes at just the right time for their side.
Pakistan manage to withstand the pressure and are now creating openings of their own. They earn a corner in the 40th minute but the delivery leaves a lot to be desired. Neither side has come close to scoring as yet, with half-time imminent.
After six minutes of added time, the referee blows the whistle to signal the end of the first half. Bangladesh would feel they ought to have been ahead, given their dominance on the ball and in the Pakistan box. But the Green Shirts would be content with the way have defended to keep the scoreline 0-0.
The players return from the lemon break and the second half gets underway in Maldives. Bangladesh now kicking from left to right and Pakistan the other way.
Bangladesh take the lead in the 54th minute! It's a stunning free-kick from Ronan Sullivan that sizzles into the far side of the Pakistan goal. The Junior Tigers finally get the reward for all their hard work, and in spectacular fashion at that.
Ronan Sullivan at it again! The promising young forward nets his second goal in the 67th minute, heading a smart cross easily into the back of the net. Bangladesh are now in full control and appear set to claim full points in this Group B opener.
It's still one-way traffic as Bangladesh are hogging possession and hardly letting Pakistan enter their half. Less than five minutes remain in the regulation 90 and a Pakistan comeback from here is looking increasingly improbable.
Seven minutes have been added to the second half as stoppage time. That's enough time in theory to effect a comeback, but the progression of play so far suggests the chances of that happening are remote.
That's it! The referee looks at his watch and brings the match to an end, and the young Bangladesh players rejoice. They earn a dominant 2-0 victory over Pakistan to go on top in Group B and take a solid step towards the semi-finals. The Green Shirts, meanwhile, face a do-or-die scenario going into the blockbuster match against arch-rivals India on March 26.
