We’re into the 19th minute now, and Mexico slip up as Marcel Ruíz commits a foul. That opens the door for Paraguay, with Antonio Sanabria stepping up to win a free kick deep in the defensive half, easing a bit of pressure off his side.
Paraguay turned up the heat as Almirón first earned a foul on the left before immediately driving forward again, unleashing a sharp right-footer from distance that forced a strong save. The crowd lifted, Almirón buzzed, Paraguay pushed, you could feel the momentum swing.
Mexico and Paraguay hit the break locked at 0–0, the whistle cutting through just as both sides tried to squeeze one last push. No goals, plenty of intent, a few nervy moments, it’s all bubbling nicely for a livelier second half.
Paraguay explode out of the tunnel and strike first! Enciso whips in a teasing ball from the right, and Sanabria times his run perfectly, darting into the heart of the box and guiding a cool left-footer into the bottom corner.
Mexico freeze, the stadium holds its breath, VAR takes a look, and the goal stands. Paraguay jump ahead 1–0, and suddenly this match has a pulse.
Mexico claw their way right back into it! Jiménez steps up with all the calm in the world, sends the keeper guessing the wrong way and tucks his penalty neatly into the bottom-right corner. The stadium erupts, momentum swings, and just like that we’re level at 1–1. Game on again.
Paraguay hit straight back and it’s chaos in the best way. Enciso whips in another wicked delivery, Mexico’s defence hesitates for a split second, and Bobadilla pounces, diving in from point-blank range and thumping a header into the roof of the net. A ruthless, blink-and-you-miss-it reply, and Paraguay surge ahead 2–1.
Paraguay nearly kill it off as Bobadilla slips Enciso through, and the youngster rifles a sharp right-footer toward the top corner. Malagón isn’t having it, he flies across, fingertips stretched, and claws it away brilliantly. Huge save, huge moment, and Mexico stay alive with the clock bleeding out.
Paraguay walk away 2–1 winners after a lively second half that swung wildly before settling their way. Sanabria opened the scoring straight after the break, Jiménez dragged Mexico level from the spot, and Bobadilla’s quick-fire header proved the difference. Mexico pushed late, Malagón kept them in it, but Paraguay held firm to wrap up a sharp, confident win in this friendly.
That’s a wrap from this one, thanks for riding along! We’ll be back with another live blog soon, so until then, take care and bye-bye.
