Manchester United has faced a turbulent December, currently sitting 7th in the Premier League.
After a commanding 4-1 win over Wolves and a chaotic 4-4 draw with Bournemouth, they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa. Injuries to Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo have further challenged Ruben Amorim’s tactical consistency.
Occupying 11th place, Newcastle's form has been a rollercoaster of high-scoring results. They recently threw away a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Chelsea, following a stinging 1-0 derby loss to Sunderland. Despite defensive frailties, Nick Woltemade remains in red-hot form, scoring twice in their last outing.

Manchester United would love to double their lead in the 2nd half but Newcastle won't make it any easier for them.
The momentum has shifted quite a bit towards Newcastle United as the Magpies are currently giving it their all to find the equalizer and leave Old Trafford with at least a point.
Newcastle United have been a real threat from the left side but nothing has materialized so far for them.
Only a dozen of minutes left to play in the normal time and Newcastle United, despite flashes of excellence, haven't been able to net the leveller.
A total of 7 minutes have been added on and this is a lot of time for Man United to score their 2nd and Newcastle to net the equalizer. Anthony Gordon just missed a simple chance to score.
The full-time whistle goes off and Manchester United have escaped with a 1-0 win at home. Newcastle United did all they could, especially in the final 20 minutes or so, but nothing could help them find the leveller.
Yet another disappointing result for the Magpies away from home but a great win for Manchester United who were without some of their key players in midfield and defence.
United have moved 5th in the points table temporarily as they are now level on points with 4th placed Chelsea and Liverpool who are 6th.
This was really a positive win for the Red Devils, that too, against a very good side that tried everything it could but ultimately left with nothing.
