City squeeze in a third in the 43rd minute to reiterate their dominance, and perhaps seal victory too. A corner leads to a last touch by Nathan Ake and the ball goes in.

Exeter's woes compound at the stroke of half time, as an unfortunate own goal by Jack Fitzwater makes the scoreline an ever-emphatic 4-0 in Man City's favour. The visitors have not been as bad as the score suggests, but it is what it is. Let's see if they can pull something back in the second half.

It's absolute carnage, at the moment. Rico Lewis scores in the 49th minute to put Man City 5-0 up, and Antoine Semenyo adds a sixth in the 54th. The former Bournemouth winger makes his City debut memorable with a strong response to Rayan Cherki's through ball, finding the back of the net for the first time since signing on for Guardiola's club.

In one of the biggest upsets in FA Cup history, Macclesfield Town beat title holders Crystal Palace 2-1 to reach the fourth round. Macclesfield are a team playing in the sixth tier of English football, five levels below Palace. They are coached by John Rooney, younger brother of former England and Manchester United star Wayne Rooney.

Exeter's misery is yet to subside, as City go on in their ruthless ways. It is Tijjani Reijnders' turn to add his name to the scoresheet, as he receives Jeremy Doku's smart pass and shoots beautifully from distance in the 72nd minute.

Goal number eight, and it's an eighth different name on the scoresheet. Nico O'Reilly directs his header superbly to beat the beleaguered Exeter goalie in the 79th minute. There's 10 more minutes of time left for Man City to break the record for their biggest ever win (more than nine goals).

The goals keep coming! It's Ryan McAidoo now, who scores on senior debut with a sizzling left-footer in the 86th minute. Man City now in with a real chance of finishing with a record double-digit victory margin.

Exeter finally retaliate, and what a way to do it! George Birch comes up with arguably the finest goal of the night, drilling it in from distance with a breathtaking left-footed shot. The teenager scores in the 90th minute to get the Grecians on the board.

Man City find a way to get to double digits before the final whistle. Rico Lewis finishes as the only player to score more than one goal, netting in the first minute of added time as the Cityzens complete a 10-1 thrashing. The toughest night Exeter could hope to encounter, but certainly one with many learnings. As for Guardiola and Co, their first win of 2026 is by their biggest margin in a long time.
