While the Derby label in Italian football is typically reserved for clashes like the Derby della Madonnina, the fixture between Inter Milan and Como 1907 is a regional rivalry rooted in the geography of Lombardy.

The two cities are separated by only about 40 kilometers (25 miles). Fans often travel between Milan and Lake Como for both leisure and football, leading to a neighborly tension. While Inter focuses on global dominance, Como has traditionally been the smaller provincial power seeking to disrupt the Milanese giants.

Como has not won at the San Siro since May 14, 1950. In that historic match, they secured a 2-1 victory, which remains their only away win against the Nerazzurri in Milan.

Before the 2025–26 season, Inter had a long-standing streak of keeping clean sheets against Como, who often struggled to score when visiting the capital of Lombardy.

The first leg of the Coppa Italia 2025-26 semi-final ended in a cagey 0-0 draw at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia.

Despite Inter Milan's dominance in the league, the match was a tactical stalemate that left everything to be decided in the second leg at the San Siro.

he Nerazzurri spent much of the first half resisting heavy pressure from Cesc Fabregas’s side, who used their home advantage to disrupt Inter’s usual rhythm.

The closest either side came to breaking the deadlock was just after halftime when Matteo Darmian struck the post.

Both managers opted for conservative late-game changes to ensure they didn't head into the second leg with a deficit. Cristian Chivu notably brought on Marcus Thuram and Denzel Dumfries in the 58th minute, but they were unable to find a way past Como's disciplined backline led by Jean Butez.

Como's Nico Paz was a constant threat throughout the 90 minutes, further fueling transfer rumors linking him to the blue side of Milan.

The match is underway with the kick-off. Inter Milan took to build attack immediately from left to right, while Como defend and carry the recovered ball up from right to left. Hakan Calhanoglu and Zielinksi were involved during the initial build up. Both sides look to strike first.

Both Inter and Como exchange blows in the first few minutes. Amid this, Martinez to the rescue. When a cross is deflected across the box, Baturina arrives at the back post and drives a firm shot towards the target. Inter's goalkeeper stands firm, though, making a superb save down to his right.

Immediately after, following a corner-kick from the left, Kempf connects with a header, which crashes back off the crossbar! Inter escape again; it's a fast start from the away side at San Siro!

Not many teams come to Milan and restrict Inter to 37% possession, but that's what Como have done so far. The Lariani are always very comfortable on the ball, and they're patiently probing for any available gaps in midfield.

Meanwhile, Calhanoglu curls in another corner-kick from the left, which Kempf rises up to powerfully head clear of any danger. The latter's headed attempt - which rattled Inter's crossbar earlier on - is as close as we've come to a goal so far.

The pressure on Inter finally makes way for the goal. Como claim the lead. After Van der Brempt eases away from Dimarco at the end of a neat move, he cuts back a low pass towards the centre of the box, where Baturina arrives to tuck it away! Making up for his earlier miss, the Croatian midfielder fires in off the let-hand post: it's 1-0 to Como!

Cesc Fabregas' side lead at the half time and Inter Milan are the second best side from the first half. Como retained the possession from the start and Inter chased around the ball. Kempf created the first opening with his head coming off the post, but Como came pushing and finally Marin Baturina converted from the assist from Van der Brempt. Towards the later part of the half, Como fell back in their structure with Inter having the ball. But despite attempts from Thuram, they couldn't open the goal. Inter will still be confident for a comeback like the last game. Inter finished that first half strongly, with a 69% share of possession over the final 15 minutes.

Immediately after the beginning of the second half, Como strike Inter, extending their lead. It's 2-0 to the Biancoblu at San Siro! Slipped through on the right side by Paz, Da Cunha strides away from Zielinski and into the box, then slides a neat finish past Martinez into the bottom-left corner! Cesc's men now lead by two goals on aggregate!

Butez gets down quickly to thwart Calhanoglu! The mid-range specialist lets rip from distance, but his low shot is kept out by Como's alert goalkeeper!

Como has controlled the game in the second half and despite Inter Milan's desperate attempt's they have not conceded a single goal.

With his team heading out of the Coppa Italia, Chivu makes two changes on the hour mark. First, a disappointing shift for Dimarco ends early, as Diouf runs on.

Inter Milan get one back. Como fail to clear their lines, and Inter sub Sucic rolls a low pass back for Calhanoglu on the brink of the box. Yet again, the Turkish sharpshooter finds his mark, drilling a fine finish into the bottom-left corner! It's now just 2-1 to Como on aggregate: game on!

Since half-time, they've had 71% of possession and taken six attempts at goal, but that defensive lapse for Da Cunha's goal could prove costly.

Following a foul by Diego Carlos around 25 yards from his own goal, Inter have a free-kick in a central position. Inevitably, Calhaonglu steps up to take it, drilling a testing strike towards goal; however, Butez moves to his left and makes a good save!

It is Calhanoglu again and he scores to turn the tie around. Nodding home from close range, he makes it 2-2 at San Siro! Once again, he's picked out by Sucic - this time with a fine cross from the left - and Inter's unmarked midfielder beats Butez! What a fightback by the home side in Milan!

As things stand, we're heading to extra-time, with tie all square at 2-2.

Inter complete the comeback. Super-sub Sucic does it again! After setting up two goals for Calhanoglu, the Croatian scores himself, putting the Nerazzurri 3-2 up on aggregate! Calhanoglu crosses from inside the box, and Sucic stretches to prod an improvised finish into the bottom-right corner! What a fightback from the Italian champions-elect! Como are crestfallen!

What a game! An absolute classic. Como started the game on frontfoot, established control and scored the opening goal taking the lead. They extend it in the second half and at one point, it looked like Inter are in trouble. But Hakan Calhanoglu kept pushing for it and he opened the scoring by combining with Sucic. Then the duo unleashed their fangs on Como and in a matter of five minutes, both scores to take Inter into the final. Cesc Fabregas and Como are awestruck and it will take some time for them for the result to sink.
