The first half comes to an end and it can be said that India had to work hard to keep the lead to only a single goal. They had looked good in the first ten minutes but since then it was all Vietnam. They controlled possession, picked up splitting passes and their forwards sliced through the Indian defence, Panthoi's excellent goalkeeping followed by Sweety Devi's resilient defence has kept Vietnam's lead to a slender 1-0 till the break. India will have to utilise their opportunities to level things.

India try to come back in the play and amp up their intensity despite Bich Thuy trying to trouble them with her runs. India are looking to keep more possession and move the ball. A big chance came up for them when Manisha Kalyan drifted to the midfield, retained the ball and sneaked in a through ball with a trivela. Soumya Guguloth received it but her first touch was big enough for Kim Thanh to come out rushing and clear the ball.

Ngan Thi Van Su was the first one to take a shot in the match and she is the first one to score a goal in the game as well. Vietnam were already dominating the midfield and flooding the Indian box with numbers. Bich Thuy has been a headache for the Indian defence with her runs and she against distracts them to drop the ball for Thi Thao who passes the ball to the path of Van Su who curls it into the second post past Panthoi.
