We’re underway at the Pathum Thani Stadium as India kick off from right to left. A crucial Group C clash begins with both sides looking to settle early and build momentum in this must-win encounter.
India come close to opening the scoring as Kipgen unleashes a strong effort from range, but Chinese Taipei goalkeeper Jian Yu-Jie reacts quickly to make a solid save and keep it level.
India finally get their first goal of the tournament and it’s a beauty. Bhumi Khumukcham fires a brilliant right-footed strike into the top left corner, leaving the keeper with no chance and breaking the deadlock.
India double their lead just after the drinks break! Sibani Nongmeikapam wins the aerial duel against the last defender and calmly slots it into the far corner with a composed left-footed finish to make it 2-0.
A strong and confident first-half display from India as they head into the break with a two-goal cushion. The attack has looked far more threatening than in previous games, with both wingers creating constant problems and multiple chances. Chinese Taipei did show glimpses going forward, but India’s defence held firm, backed by a couple of excellent diving saves from goalkeeper Ribansi Jamu. With qualification still on the line, India will need a bigger push in the second half, as they require five more goals to secure direct progression and avoid relying on other results.
Second half gets underway as the Young Tigresses look to extend their lead.
Chinese Taipei look to build pressure early in the second half as Fu Chih-Ling launches a long throw-in from the left side deep in India’s half, aiming to create a chance inside the box.
India have been the dominant side in the second half, as they created a lot of chances but have been unable to score because of poor finishing and inability of decision making. Two goals won't be enough for them to avoid being the worst placed third-ranked team.
The game has broken and both sides create attacks. Chinese Taipei look to get at least a goal back and they show urgency. Twice they created two dangerous chances but failed to convert either. India have been wasteful as well as they too got a chance to extend their lead but it was thwarted. Taipei's latest attack ended in offside.
India get their third goal of the day. They were looking dangerous but were not able to extend the lead. This time they get an opportunity through a penalty due to a handball. Sibani Devi steps up for the penalty and she converts it comfortably completing her brace. India will go for more goals from here.
A late goal from Hsing Kao and Chinese Taipei get a consolation goal which dents India's consolation chances further.
Overall a really good game for India as they secure a solid win against Chinese Taipei, which is also their first win of the AFC U20 Women's Asian Cup 2026. A little better execution in the final third and India could have scored more.
Sibani Devi was the standout performer with a brilliant brace, including a late penalty, while the defense held firm despite a stoppage-time consolation goal from Taipei.
The result leaves India waiting on results from other groups to see if they progress to the quarterfinals as one of the best third-placed teams.
Under the tournament rules, the top two teams from each group and the two best third-placed teams qualify for the quarter-finals.
India are currently in the second spot among the best third-ranked sides. They have a goal difference of -9 after this win.
Vietnam are ahead of India with a goal difference of -5.
Jordan and Uzbekistan have a goal difference of -9 and -8 respectively. The only way India can qualify if Jordan and Uzbekistan play out a draw between them.
