Lynda Kom has surely put the final nail in it.
A costly defensive lapse from Bangladesh and the ball drops perfectly for Lynda inside the box. No hesitation at all, she stays calm and slots in an easy finish to give India a massive cushion. A brutal moment for Bangladesh, and India are now in full control of this final.
Sanfida continues to be in excellent form, pulling the strings for India. She sets up a great chance for Manisha Kalyan with a smart pass, but Manisha fails to finish what should have been a simple opportunity, letting a big moment slip.
India keep the pressure on, with Sanfida once again driving forward and troubling the Bangladesh defence. She spots Manisha’s run and lofts another ball into her path, but the volley goes just wide, keeping Bangladesh in the game.
Change for Bangladesh as they look to shake things up.
Monika Chakma comes on to replace Anika, a fresh body in midfield as they try to regain control and stability after conceding again.
India are back in front almost instantly.
Sanfida strikes again in a big moment after her semi-final heroics, and this time she doubles the joy for the hosts. Pyari Xaxa turns provider, bursting down the right flank and whipping in a perfect delivery into the box. Sanfida finds space, relatively unmarked, and powers a header that kisses the upright before nestling into the net.
A fast, competitive first half with India starting brighter, pushing high and creating early pressure through Manisha Kalyan on the wing. Their dominance paid off when Pyari Xaxa found the opener, helped by a deflection that wrong-footed the Bangladesh keeper.
Bangladesh stayed compact and dangerous in transition, with Ritu Porna Chakma once again delivering in a big moment to level things before the break. India have had more control, but missed chances will frustrate them, while Bangladesh remain a real threat on the break heading into the second half.
What an equaliser!
Ritu Porna Chakma, of course it’s her. She steps up when it matters most and drags Bangladesh right back into the contest. India are caught napping at the back as she finds space and makes them pay, finishing with composure to level things up. The final is wide open again.
India finally have a goal they’ve been pushing for, and it comes in scrappy fashion through Pyari Xaxa. She slips past a defender with a sharp turn and gets her shot away, but a deflection off a Bangladesh player completely wrong-foots Mile Akter, who is caught off her line as the ball loops over her and into the net. Not pretty, but it counts, India lead in the final.
India might look back at this one with real frustration.
Captain Sangita Basfore is handed a prime set-piece opportunity, but she can’t make it countm, the free-kick rises too quickly and sails well over the bar into the stands. A wasted chance from a very good position, and the India bench shows its disappointment, with Crispin Chettri far from pleased.
It came after Manisha Kalyan once again turned up the heat on the flank, forcing Kisku into a mistimed challenge to concede the foul.
India come alive with their first real opening of the match, and it should have been taken. Nirmala Devi launches one forward, more hopeful than precise, but it causes panic inside the Bangladesh box.
Goalkeeper Mile Akter rushes out but doesn’t deal with it cleanly, and the clearance that follows from Kohati is weak and rushed. Suddenly, Astam Oraon finds herself with the goal gaping and a golden chance to finish it off.
But under pressure, she can’t keep it down or on target. The effort drifts wide, and India let a massive opportunity slip through their fingers.
Fast start to the final, played at a lively tempo right away. India push high and try to control the early phases, with Manisha constantly involved down the wing, using her experience from Europe and the USA to keep things moving.
Bangladesh respond quickly on the break through Ritu Parna, who carries the ball forward with intent and briefly stretches India’s defence. Panthoi, though, stays composed behind the line as things open up but remain goalless.
Shamsunnahar then floats one in from the left towards Ritu Parna, who goes for a quick cross. It doesn’t have much on it, though, and Panthoi steps out calmly to collect it without any trouble.
