Atalanta and Chelsea have never played each other in UEFA competitions. Tonight's match will be the first-ever continental clash between these two sides.

The first shot on goal of the night, and Lookman brings out a pretty good save from Sanchez. The former Everton winge, after a one-two with Kolasinac, goes past a host of bodies. He pokes it in between Sanchez's legs, but De Ketelaere can't keep his shot on target.

Moments after Fernandez fired James' pass over the bar, Chelsea players have a huge shout for a penalty after Gittens goes down in the box. However, the referee is not impressed, and the play goes on.

An early blow for La Dea. Bellanova is unable to continue after suffering an injury, and Palladino is forced to bring him off for Zappacosta. Meanwhile, Atalanta continue to push forward, and they have a double chance. Lookman's initial effort is blocked by the defence, and de Roon's effort from the rebound flies over the crossbar.

Joao Pedro thought he had put Chelsea ahead after finding the back of the net. However, the Blues have their celebrations cut short as the flag goes up for offside. But hold on... VAR is taking a look.

And the goal stands!!! Pedro has indeed put the visitors ahead at Bergamo in the 25th minute. James' cross found the onrushing forward, who poked it past Carnesecchi from point-blank range.

Scamacca does very well to control the ball and then free Lookman down the wings. Acheampong does very well to make a perfect tackle, but the flag goes up against the Atalanta forward anyway. The home side have more of the ball and more of the shots, but they are yet to test Sanchez since going behind.

A really entertaining half of football comes to an end. Chelsea are ahead at the break after their well-worked corner routine was poked home by Joao Pedro. Atalanta had their moments, but Robert Sanchez hasn't been tested enough by the home side yet.

Atalanta get the second half underway, trailing by a goal due to Joao Pedro's first half goal. The Blues have made a change in defence, with Chalobah – who was booked – coming off for Wesley Fofana.

Scamacca finds the back of the net and draws Atalanta level at Bergamo!! De Ketelaere floated in a perfectly weighted ball into the box, and Scamacca outjumped everyone to head it past Sanchez from close range.

Scamacca could have so easily doubled his tally and put Atalanta ahead. It's another close-range downwards header from the Italian after a good cross into the box, but this time, Sanchez is up to the task and makes a pretty decent save.

Chelsea make a double change, bringing on Garnacho and Malo Gusto in palce of Pedro Neto and Enzo Fernandez. Meanwhile, Zappacosta tries to float in a cross into the Chelsea box, but the defence deals with it without much difficulty.

Despite suffering a knock a few minutes ago, Fofana tried to soldier on. However, Maresca has to bring off the second-half substitute after just over 20 minutes of action. On comes Tosin Adaraioyo.

De Ketelaere finds a late goal to put Atalanta ahead!! A quick free-kick leads to De Roon playing a long ball into the box to find the run of the Belgian attacker. The latter lets fly from the edge of the box that takes a deflection off Cucurella and goes past Sanchez.

A couple of huge chances for Chelsea to draw level. The first one fell to Garnacho, who did exceptionally well to make his way into Atalanta penalty area before pulling the trigger from the edge of the box. Carnesecchi is up to the task and makes a good save.

Reece James has another chance to find the back of the net after a good cross into the box, but he fires it just wide of the post.

Chelsea give it their all at the death, but Atalanta ride their luck and some good saves by Carnesecchi to seal the comeback victory. After a big win over Barcelona, this result will be a reality check for Maresca's side, while Atalanta will be quite happy with their performance.
