The match is underway. Al-Nassr are in their yellow kit, attacking from left to right. Al-Ahli are in their white kit, building up from right to left. Al-Nassr start by winning a free kick, but Joao Felix's attempt from the left side of the pitch misses.
It has been an even game so far. Al-Nasse created some pressure initially with a few free kicks and corners. Al-Ahli responded by creating a good build up with a good shot. Ibanez's right footed shot from outside the box missed to the left. Assisted by Riyad Mahrez.
Not much action in the last ten minutes. The ball spends most of the time in the midfield with both sides battling for possession. Joao Felix showed a few instances of personal brilliances and looked to combine with Marcelo Brozovic. Yet, there has been no results. Cristiano Ronaldo has been spotted only once when he was caught offside.
No goals in the match so far and the match is drifting with both sides taking a passive stance. There has been no collective movement in the attacking which can create a goal scoring situation. Al Ahli has seen more of the ball lately with Ivan Toney dropping but they have not been able to break past Al-Nassr defence as well.
Earlier, Cristiano Ronaldo's left footed shot from the centre of the box is saved in the bottom right corner by Édouard Mendy. Assisted by João Félix.
Forty-Five minutes of play and there has been nothing to separate the two sides. In the last few minutes, Al-Ahli looked like the stronger side. Frank Kessie's shot went wide. Immediately after, referee pointed for penalty when an Al-Nassr defender fouled an Al-Ahli player during corner kick. But after reviewing through VAR, referee overturned the call. Both sides go unscathed in the break, but they have everything to play for in the second half.
First attack in the 15 minutes of the second half. João Félix's right footed shot from the centre of the box goes too high. Assisted by Cristiano Ronaldo. Al-Nassr is the first one to create an attacking chance in the second half. Earlier, Ivan Toney was caught offside and Franck Kessie committed handball. Not much action on display from either side.
Entering the match, Al Nassr sits comfortably at the top of the table with 76 points. They are currently on a historic 19-match winning streak in all competitions. A victory tonight would move them to 79 points, maintaining their significant lead over Al Hilal and potentially putting them just two wins away from mathematically securing the championship.
A draw would take Al Nassr to 77 points. While it would end their incredible 19-match winning streak, it still maintains a safety net. The primary beneficiary of a draw would be second-placed Al Hilal, who could potentially close the gap to just 3 or 4 points (depending on their game in hand), making the final three matchdays a high-pressure sprint.
It is the man, myth, legend, who finally gives Al-Nassr the much-awaited lead. Al-Nassr has been searching for that opener for a long time but they were struggling to break through. Despite of having corners and free-kicks, they couldn't use them to their advantage. This time they do. Joao Felix puts in a brilliant delivery from the left side corner and Ronaldo runs in to the first post to flick the header into the second post. Al-Nassr have now taken a big step towards the title.
Al-Nassr get the second goal of the match and it almost settles the fate of the match. After the first goal, they were pushing more and this time they convert from a rather less threatening chance. It is Kingsley Coman, whose brilliance results in the goal. A loose ball from an aerial dual drops to him on the right of the penalty box and he absolutely drills it inside the goal beyond the reach of Edouard Mendy. Just puts his foot through the ball given the angle and that does the job. Al-Nassr are nearing crucial three points.
Al-Nassr near the Saudi Pro League title as they get crucial three points from Al-Ahli. The match was even for a long time before Cristiano Ronaldo, the big match player, turned up and nodded a ball home. The momentum shifted and Kingsley Coman's goal just ensured that Al-Nassr are getting a win. Despite their attempt, Al-Ahli couldn't open Al-Nassr's goal in the last few minutes of the game. Assuring win for Jorge Jesus' side and he will be happy with the result.
