Zimbabwe Women Vs Namibia Women, Final ICC Womens T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier: Match Report

Namibia never really found momentum after being sent in to bat, finishing on 115/7 from their 20 overs. Kayleen Green (48 off 47) and Yasmeen Khan (23 off 21) offered resistance, but the rest of the batting faltered under Zimbabwe’s disciplined bowling. Josephine Nkomo (2/13) and Beloved Biza (2/12) were the standout performers with the ball.

In response, Zimbabwe’s chase was anchored by opener Kelis Ndhlovu, who struck a fluent 70* off 52 balls with 11 fours and a six. She was well supported by Modester Mupachikwa (37) in a 112-run opening stand that effectively killed the contest. Zimbabwe reached 116/1 in 16.3 overs to complete a commanding victory.

Zimbabwe and Namibia book tickets for global qualifier

With the result, Zimbabwe and Namibia have secured their tickets to the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier to be held in Nepal early next year. Ten teams will battle it out for four coveted spots in the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup in England, scheduled for June and July. For both Zimbabwe and Namibia, it is a historic step forward, as neither side has ever qualified for a women’s World Cup in any format.

They now join Bangladesh, Scotland, Ireland, Netherlands, Thailand, Nepal and USA, who had already booked their places in the global qualifier. The final slot will be filled by the winner of the East Asia-Pacific regional qualifier, beginning in Fiji on September 9.
